Liverpool have unveiled their new home shirt for the 2023-24 season which pays homage to the legendary Bill Shankly's last campaign in charge of the Reds 50 years ago.

The classic design sees a bright red jersey complemented by a white collar and cuffs, inspired by Shankly's 1973-74 FA Cup-winning squad.

That season was Shankly's 14th and final campaign as Reds boss, managing a team which featured the likes of Ian Callaghan, Kevin Keegan, Ray Clemence, Roy Evans, Phil Thompson and John Toshack.

The current squad will debut this Nike kit in the final home game of the season against Aston Villa.

The images to mark the launch aim to portray a soulful 70s feel, featuring first-team players Jordan Henderson, Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Joel Matip.

Henderson said: "The new home shirt is a classic. Given the inspiration behind the design, it feels iconic and a nod to the history of this great club.

"We’re looking forward to wearing it at Anfield for the Aston Villa game."

Both stadium and match jerseys have Nike’s Dri-FIT technology to help stay cool during intense games or training sessions.

The Nike kit is sustainably made, with on the pitch and replica jerseys constructed with 100% recycled polyester fabric, which is made from recycled plastic bottles.

Printed with water-based inks as a more sustainable option, the shirt will also be worn for cup competitions and friendlies.

The club's name and number style for the back of shirt takes inspiration from the city, with a contemporary take on Liverpool’s historic street signs.

On the reverse of the jersey, the 97 emblem sits at the nape of the neck in memory of those that lost their lives in the 1989 Hillsborough disaster.

The shirt is available to pre-order from today on Liverpool's official online store, retail app and in official club shops both in the UK and abroad.
