Both teams to score

The Stade Pierre-Mauroy is the venue for a crucial Champions League encounter on Tuesday evening, when Lille take on Juventus.

Both of these sides have won two and lost one of their opening three matches, putting them in the mix for a top-eight finish and with it a place in the last-16 stage of the competition.

Team news

Lille are without several first-team players, with Remy Cabella, Hakon Arnar Haraldsson, Ismaily, Nabil Bentaleb and Samuel Umtiti all still sidelined.

Ethan Mbappe is not expected back until January and Tiago Santos has been ruled out for the season with a cruciate ligament tear, while Andre Gomes and Rafael Fernandes are both doubts.

Juventus remain without Douglas Luiz, Nicolas Gonzalez, Arkadiusz Milik and Bremer due to injury, while Paul Pogba continues to serve his suspension.

Lille are on an eight-game unbeaten run heading into this contest, winning five and drawing three.

The Ligue 1 outfit have lost just once at home this season, going down to Paris Saint-Germain, and they claimed the scalp of Real Madrid in matchday two.

Bruno Genesio's side last failed to score at home in a competitive match in February 2023, an incredible 40-game run.

Juventus are unbeaten in three fixtures ahead of this clash, drawing with Inter Milan and Parma before beating Udinese.

The Old Lady have scored in five of their six away contests this term, scoring 15 times in total.

Prediction

Lille have looked solid over the past couple of months and they will be a tough nut to crack at home, as Real Madrid found out when losing 1-0 at Stade Pierre-Mauroy at the start of October.

But Juventus have also looked sharp, losing just once all season and they will be determined to bounce back from that defeat suffered at the hands of Stuttgart in matchday three.

The defensive solidity the Old Lady had in the early knockings of the campaign has slipped away of late and they conceded twice at RB Leipzig and four times at Inter Milan on the road last month.

Juventus have scored 12 goals in their last four away fixtures and finding the back of the net should not be a problem on Tuesday, but they may not be able to keep Lille at bay.

The hosts have a terrific scoring record at home, but they have also been susceptible at the back and have conceded in four of their last five outings at Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
