Kieran Trippier and Jarrod Bowen will be absent for England's Euro 2024 qualifier against North Macedonia.

The Newcastle right-back, 33, will play no part in Monday's game after returning home to deal with a personal issue.

The England account on X, formerly known as Twitter, said: "Trippier has departed the Three Lions camp, owing to a personal matter and will not travel to North Macedonia."

And manager Gareth Southgate revealed later on Sunday that Bowen will also miss the match after picking up an injury in training.

Southgate said: "Unfortunately Jarrod picked up an injury.

"We don't think it's going to be anything serious but we wouldn't take a risk in that situation."

It is the latest in a string of withdrawals from Gareth Southgate's squad during this international period, including the likes of Jude Bellingham, Levi Colwill and Lewis Dunk.

The Three Lions trained with just 22 players on Sunday ahead of their final game of the qualifying campaign in Skopje.

Southgate's men had already secured their place at the finals in Germany next summer prior to Friday's uninspiring 2-0 win over Malta, with Trippier playing the full 90 minutes.

His departure further limits Southgate's options at full-back, with Kyle Walker the only remaining option on the right and no recognised left-backs named in the original squad.

Fikayo Tomori started on the left side of defence against Malta at Wembley and could play the role again versus North Macedonia.

Newcastle's next game is against Chelsea on Saturday, November 25, while West Ham take on Burnley on the same day.
