Kevin Phillips’ first league game in charge of AFC Fylde ended in a crushing 4-0 defeat at Dagenham.

Dagenham had the first chance of the match but Josh Umerah’s shot was saved by Ben Winterbottom after four minutes.

In a half of few chances, it took a fine strike to break the deadlock. Four minutes before the interval, Josh Rees laid the ball off for Christian N’Guessan whose first-time effort flew past Winterbottom.

Dagenham doubled their lead six minutes after the restart as a goalmouth scramble resulted in Adam Long turning into his own net.

The hosts were three up with 15 minutes remaining when Umerah won the ball and squared for Junior Morias to tap in.

And Dagenham put the seal on their first win in four matches when Dylan Stephenson slotted home two minutes from time.
