Justin Kluivert has joined Bournemouth from Roma for an undisclosed fee in a coup for the Cherries.

The twice-capped Dutch forward, 24, follows in his father Patrick's footsteps by moving to the Premier League and fans will be desperate to see the big-name signing in action.

Kluivert scored nine goals in 68 appearances after switching to the Italian capital from boyhood club Ajax in 2018.

But he spent the last three seasons on loan at RB Leipzig, Nice and, most recently, Valencia after failing to deliver on his early promise.

Cherries chief executive Neill Blake said: "We are delighted to have made Justin our first signing ahead of the new season.

"He was coveted by a number of clubs across Europe and his arrival is a sign of his ambition which is matched by ours.

"Justin is an exciting and versatile attacking player who has an eye for goal.

"He is quick, direct and boasts a high level of technical ability."

Kluivert's dad spent one season at Newcastle after arriving in a headline-grabbing switch from Barcelona in 2004.

That move did not pan out as planned, with the former Netherlands star scoring just six league goals in 25 outings.

And Bournemouth will hope his son makes more of an impact as they look to avoid another relegation battle after replacing Gary O'Neil with Andoni Iraola.
