Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has urged fans to be patient with Alexis Mac Allister while he settles into life on Merseyside.

The Reds' £35million summer signing has been finding his feet at his new club and played 45 minutes in Singapore as his side thumped Leicester 4-0 in pre-season.

And Klopp has offered his verdict on the World Cup winner since he made the switch from the South Coast.

The German said: "[He's a] good player. These things, it needs time. We have a lot of options in the areas and the boys need to show up.

"Everybody has still a bit of work to do, that's absolutely fine.

"Tomorrow in the morning we have recovery and after that we will have a proper, proper video meeting where we go through all the things so far and we show the boys good and bad."

Klopp was also full of praise for Darwin Nunez, who netted the opener after 30 minutes.

Hes added: "I don't think I have to tell our fans, it's pretty much traditionally — or historically — for us that usually players for us, especially offensive players, [need time].

"I think the signs Darwin showed already last season were really good. Injuries and the red card were not helpful in the start directly and these things, but it's all good.

"It's good, you can see he is a handful, the speed and the goal was a typical goalscorer's goal. Being there, smelling it and finishing it off.

"In training he looks really good. He is fit, that helps, and now two more games and Chelsea."

Diogo Jota was another man on the scoresheet for the Reds and he expressed his delight at how pre-season is going for his side.

The Player of the Match said: "We wanted to build in this pre-season, the way we create from the back, the way we press.

"I think we had good moments [and] not-so-good moments in that first half. I think the result in the end was clearly favourable for us, but we want to build on this physical side of the game and the way we can build as well.

"Of course we want to do a lot better than we did last season. Last season was not great so we really want to improve on that.

"That’s what pre-season is all about, to build and try to get better for the start of the season."
