Rotherham’s revival continued as they powered past managerless Northampton 3-0 at New York Stadium.

Steve Evans’ side made it back-to-back home wins to kick-start their campaign following a sluggish start which saw them hovering just above the drop zone.

Rotherham were ahead in the third minute when Jonson Clarke-Harris peeled away from his marker to nod in Sam Nombe’s cross at the back post.

Clarke-Harris almost scored a near identical goal but goalkeeper Nik Tzanev this time saved with his legs.

Northampton skipper Jon Guthrie had a good chance to level but his header was gathered easily by keeper Dillon Phillips.

Rotherham punished them with the next move as Andre Green slipped away down the right and squared for Clarke-Harris to smash in his second after 34 minutes.

Joe Powell came close to extending Rotherham’s lead early in the second half when his effort flew just off target.

Green made it three after 49 minutes as he capitalised from close range following a scramble in the box.

Powell also saw an effort rattle the woodwork as Rotherham eased to the three points in the second half.
