Jadon Sancho hailed his "special" connection to Borussia Dortmund after he scored during their last-16 victory over PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.

Sancho, 23, fired home a low strike in the third minute before Marco Reus secured a 2-0 home win late on to send the German giants through 3-1 on aggregate to book a quarter-final spot for the first time in three years.

After a turbulent time with Manchester United, Sancho rejoined Dortmund in January and netted the first Bundesliga goal of his loan spell last weekend.

Sancho admits he has an affinity with BVB and was quick to state he loved the feeling of scoring at Signal Iduna Park again.

He told TNT Sports: "I've always had a special place in Borussia Dortmund — this is where I made my name.

"I've got to be grateful to my teammates for believing in me and I'm just happy we got the win.

"It was a relief [to score]. All players want to have a good start to the game and there's no better feeling than that.

"I'm just grateful I could get the goal for the team."

Dortmund were fortunate to escape without conceding in the second half but they got the job done to advance to the last eight.

Sancho went on to hail the home crowd, who he claimed played a massive part in securing the win.

The England ace added: "Coming into the game, we knew it was going to be tough but we always had the advantage because we were in front of our home fans.

"From the first whistle to the last, we stuck at our game plan and I'm just happy we got the win."

Despite the apparent feel-good factor, Sancho's evening ended in the 75th minute when he limped off holding his hamstring.

Buhe quickly eased fears over a potential spell on the sidelines.

Sancho said: "I felt something and I just didn't want to risk it. We're going to check and hopefully it is nothing.

"It is in the hamstring area but hopefully it's OK."
