It was a tale of two penalties as Lincoln edged a narrow 1-0 away win to Stevenage in League One.

The first was not given as Elliott List broke through the middle of the Lincoln defence and went to ground under a tackle.

The referee was unsighted and did not get any advice from his linesman that would have pleased the home fans.

Seven minutes later – with 72 on the clock – he did see a foul by Dan Butler on JJ McKiernan and Jack Moylan duly sent Murphy Cooper the wrong way from the spot.

Stevenage pressed to find an equaliser but they ended the game with 10 men. Kane Smith hobbling off after they had used all their substitutes.

Lincoln ended with 10 men too as Paudie O’Connor was dismissed in stoppage time for two yellow cards.

The first half saw plenty of intensity but none of it was put into quality play.

There was only one real clear-cut chance, falling to Tyreece Simpson after he took advantage of a misplaced Lincoln header.

The Stevenage man took it round the goal keeper but with a defender on the line, he sliced the ball high and wide.
