Ivan Toney's future is set to be one of the major talking points of the summer transfer window.

The Brentford striker, 27, enjoyed a superb campaign last season, netting 20 goals in 33 Premier League appearances before being handed an eight-month ban by the FA for breaching betting rules.

He picked up where he left off after returning to action this term but speculation regarding his future is rife with his contract running down.

Read on for the latest transfer updates.

February 8: Frankly speaking, Ivan may stay

Thomas Frank has hinted Ivan Toney could stay at Brentford beyond the end of the season after admitting comments taken from an interview with the Danish media were lost in translation.

The Bees boss, 50, was quoted as saying his star striker would likely be sold in the summer but he has now clarified that a number of scenarios remain on the table.

He said: "I would love him to stay forever but the reality is he's got one more year left on his contract.

"The scenarios are he leaves in the summer, he leaves in the winter or he stays until the end."

February 7: Being Frank

Brentford manager Thomas Frank admits Ivan Toney is likely to be sold this summer.

He told Danish media, via Tipsbladet: "It is relatively obvious that Ivan Toney will probably be sold this summer.

"We also know what he is worth. I don't think there are many strikers in the world who are better than him right now. He is a really skilled striker who is in his prime football age.

"Personally, as a coach, I would prefer to keep Toney but one day it could be fun to see him on a top team. This winter we actually had no offers for him but it will surprise me if there aren't a lot of clubs that will be interested in him."

January 17: Toney talks

Ivan Toney has not ruled out leaving Brentford this January ahead of his return to action.

The in-demand striker told Sky Sports: "You can never predict when is the right time to move elsewhere but I think it's obvious I want to play for a top club.

"Everybody wants to play for a top club fighting for titles. Whether it's this January that's the right time for a club to come in and pay the right money, who knows?"

January 17: Ban over

Ivan Toney has completed his eight-month FA ban, freeing him up to feature in Brentford's Premier League match against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

He has scored 32 goals in 66 top-flight matches for the Bees and recently bagged a hat-trick in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Southampton Under-23s.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank said of his returning forward: "Every team would be happy to sign a quality player like him. Ivan is a top player but he's also very good at making the whole team better."

January 15: Test of loyalty

Ivan Toney insists he wants to repay Brentford for their loyalty during his eight-month ban by firing them to survival.

But with Arsenal and Chelsea in need of a new No9, that statement will be put to the test.

Ahead of the expiry of his suspension this week, we assess his options and what comes next for the prolific forward.
