Ipswich vs Leicester predictions: Foxes can take charge
- Ipswich are still looking for their first Premier League win of the season
- Leicester need to bounce back from a 5-2 Carabao Cup defeat at Manchester United
- Recommended bet: Leicester to win
After two successive promotions, Ipswich are understandably finding life difficult in the Premier League and are still searching for their first league success of the campaign after nine games.
They will have high hopes of posting it against Leicester, who also came up from the Championship, but the Foxes have shown a great deal of fight in their last two league away games so gaining that elusive success may not be easy for the Tractor Boys.
Team news
Axel Tuanzebe, Massimo Luongo, Jack Taylor, Jacob Greaves, Janoi Donacien and Chiedozie Ogbene are all out for Ipswich while Ben Johnson, Omari Hutchinson and Sam Morsy are all doubtful.
Full-back Harry Clarke is suspended after his red card at Brentford last weekend.
Patson Daka, Jakub Stolarczyk, Victor Kristiansen and Hamza Choudhury are all set to miss out for Leicester.
The stats
Ipswich have conceded 10 goals in their last three Premier League games.
The Tractor Boys have not won any of their nine league matches this season.
Kieran McKenna’s side have kept just three clean sheets in their last 15 home league and cup matches.
There have been at least four goals in four of Leicester’s last five games.
The Foxes have scored nine goals in their last five away league and cup games.
Prediction
Few people expected Ipswich to get anything from their opening two Premier League games against Manchester City and Liverpool, but the Tractor Boys have got to November without gaining a win and that wait could continue after they have entertained Leicester on Saturday.
Four draws after losing to the big two looked to have steadied the ship, but the Suffolk side’s followers will be concerned that Keiran McKenna’s side have conceded 10 goals in their last three outings, losing all three.
They were unable to build on a two-goal lead at Brentford last Saturday when they were sunk by a Bryan Mbeumo injury-time strike that gave the Bees a 4-3 success, and their recent defensive record has to be a cause for concern.
Leicester have their own issues to address after a poor showing in their 3-1 defeat to East Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest on Friday.
Manager Steve Copper rang the changes for a 5-2 Carabao Cup defeat at Manchester United on Wednesday, but their previous two away performances have at least provided encouragement.
The Foxes gave Arsenal a fright as they went down to two late goals in a 4-2 defeat at the Emirates, while they showed their fighting spirit in recovering from a two-goal deficit to claim a 3-2 win at struggling Southampton.
That should give them plenty of confidence that they can win at Portman Road and stretch further away from the bottom three.
