Tottenham are the next hurdle for Liverpool to overcome as they look to catch Manchester City in the Premier League title race.

Tottenham 0-3 Liverpool (August 2014)

Liverpool travelled to White Hart Lane in the third game of the 2014-15 season and put three past Hugo Lloris, though it could have easily been more.

Mauricio Pochettino had won his first two matches as Spurs manager but suffered his first defeat at the hands of Brendan Rodgers’ outfit who peppered Spurs’ goal.

Raheem Sterling gave Liverpool the lead before Steven Gerrard’s penalty and full-back Alberto Moreno’s finish put the game to bed.

The hosts were tormented by the Reds and particularly Luis Suarez the previous season, conceding nine without reply across the two games.

But the Uruguayan’s departure saw Mario Balotelli make his debut in this fixture and he missed several chances on the day.

Liverpool 4-0 Tottenham (November 1997)

The likes of Michael Owen, Paul Ince and Robbie Fowler helped the Reds thrash Spurs by four goals nearly 25 years ago.

After a goalless first-half, a rampant display from the home side in the second period kicked off with an opener from Steve McManaman.

The second and third goals were both scored by future Spurs players as Oyvind Leonhardsen and Jamie Redknapp found the back of the net.

Substitute Owen put the nail in the coffin with the fourth and the Reds went on to finish the season in third, earning qualification for the UEFA Cup.

Liverpool 4-0 Tottenham (March 2014)

Another of Liverpool’s 4-0 victories over the North Londoners came in the 2013-14 season as they moved to the top of the league with six games remaining.

In a must-win fixture for both sides, as Spurs chased a top-four spot, Rodgers’ men made no mistake in ensuring they took all three points as they battled for the title.

Two errors from the visiting defence gave the home side the advantage, as an early own-goal from Younes Kaboul was followed by a mistake from Michael Dawson which gifted Suarez the second.

Philippe Coutinho hit the back of the net from 25 yards out for the third and Jordan Henderson’s free-kick sealed the rout.

Despite being top at the time, Liverpool were unable to stop Manchester City from pipping them to the league title that season by two points, while both teams bagged a sensational 101 and 102 goals respectively.

Liverpool 6-2 Tottenham (May 1993)

Tottenham were shell-shocked when they visited Anfield in 1993 as they shipped in six goals in a late season clash.

Graeme Souness watched his side take a 2-0 lead into half-time with goals from Ian Rush and John Barnes.

Teddy Sheringham pulled one back immediately following the restart and the match was in the balance at 3-2 after a frantic second period, up until the 82nd minute.

Three late goals from Mark Walters, Rush and Barnes caught the visitors by surprise in a memorable result for the Anfield faithful.

Both sides finished the inaugural Premier League season level on 59 points with Liverpool finishing sixth, two places above Spurs on goal difference.

Tottenham 0-5 Liverpool (December 2013)

Liverpool’s biggest Premier League victory over the North London outfit saw them fire in five goals courtesy of a brilliant double from Luis Suarez, who also set up two goals on the day.

The visitors were not fazed by the absence of injured captain Gerrard, as they led 2-0 at the break following goals from Suarez and Henderson, while Roberto Soldado had one disallowed for the hosts.

Paulinho’s red card in the 63rd minute severely hindered the already unlikely chances of a Tottenham comeback and they were subsequently punished for the Brazilian's rashness, shipping in three in the last 16 minutes.

Jon Flanagan rifled in a shot off the bar for his first goal for the club, while Suarez and Sterling topped off a resounding trip to White Hart Lane.

Suarez went on to win the Premier League Golden Boot with a jaw-dropping 31 goals.
