Cooper signs new Forest deal
Steve Cooper has signed a new three-year deal at Nottingham Forest.
The Welsh manager was thought to be under pressure at the City Ground after five successive defeats left the Reds bottom of the Premier League.
But Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has decided to stick by the 42-year-old, who guided them back to the top flight for the first time in 23 years.
A statement on the club website said: "It is now important that our focus is solely on football.
"As a group we are all concentrated and will do everything we can to help the team move up the league table and once again demonstrate our qualities that led us to the Premier League."
The East Midlands outfit announced the appointment of Filippo Giraldi, formerly of Watford, as sporting director on Wednesday.
Mitro a doubt for Hammers clash
Star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is a doubt for Fulham's trip to West Ham on Sunday.
The Serbian is the Cottagers' top scorer this season with six goals but was withdrawn 36 minutes into their 4-1 defeat to Newcastle last weekend.
He was revealed to have suffered ligament damage in his foot, though boss Marco Silva insists it is not a serious injury.
However, Silva admitted the 28-year-old is in a race against time to be fit for the clash at the London Stadium.
The Whites boss said: "He is still a doubt. He was outside this morning, doing some work, getting better. We will assess him tomorrow, and then take a decision for the match."
Saints will play without fear
Ralph Hasenhuttl insists his Southampton side will show no fear against in-form Manchester City tomorrow.
The Austrian boss is feeling the pressure after three straight league defeats and faces a rampant Citizens side who have scored 14 goals in their last three games.
But instead of adopting a pragmatic approach as underdogs, Hasenhuttl, 55, believes his team are capable of going toe-to-toe with the Premier League champions.
He said: "The message is a very clear one. We have had three very tight games, which we lost with one goal difference and, especially in the last one, we had a much higher chance of winning than the opponent.
"But we didn’t do it and this is what we have to learn. We see that the progress is there, but the Premier League is tough, we know this.
"We are going there and you can be sure we are not scared when we go to Man City and we want to show we are a brave team and hopefully a successful one."
Spurs to pay tribute to late coach
A minute’s applause will take place before Tottenham’s game against Brighton on Saturday in memory of fitness coach Gian Piero Ventrone.
Spurs confirmed the tragic passing of the highly-respected Italian at the age of 61.
The North London outfit have confirmed plans to honour Ventrone, who arrived at the club last November following Antonio Conte’s appointment.
A statement said: "Following yesterday’s sad news, we can confirm that we shall pay our respects to Gian Piero Ventrone at Saturday’s Premier League fixture against Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium.
"Our squad will warm up in T-shirts that pay tribute to our late fitness coach, while players on both sides will wear black armbands as a mark of respect.
"There will also be a minute’s applause ahead of the 5.30pm kick-off.
"We shall look to further honour Gian Piero at Wednesday night’s UEFA Champions League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, our first home match since his passing.
"Our thoughts continue to be with his family and friends at this sad time."
Hull cancel Martins talks
Hull have confirmed that Pedro Martins will not become their new manager.
The Portuguese boss had been in advanced talks with the Championship outfit to take over from Shota Arveladze and sat with owner Acun Ilicali for their home win over Wigan on Wednesday.
But having been "unable to reach a mutually-agreeable position", the Tigers have cancelled negotiations.
Ilicali said in a statement: "Pedro is a great coach but we didn’t feel we were able to meet his demands, so we thank him for his interest in Hull City and wish him all the best for the future.
"Our team is in very capable hands with club legend Andy Dawson and we are more than happy with the work he and his team have done in the last week.
"The atmosphere in the stadium on Wednesday made it clear to me that we have a very unified club, and the support given to Andy and the players from the fans was amazing to see.
"With all of the above in mind, Andy will remain in charge of the first team until further notice.
"We have been inundated with interest from high-calibre coaches around the world and we will continue to consider all of our options until we find the correct candidate to lead this great club forward."
