Emotional release
Thomas Muller hailed interim Germany manager Rudi Voller after Tuesday's 2-1 friendly victory over France.
Voller stepped in after Hansi Flick was sacked over the weekend and made an immediate impact.
Muller, who scored the opener, said: "For us it was clear we'd be running a lot today.
"It was a crazy situation in the past three days. But congratulations to Rudi and his staff on how they dealt with it.
"We did what we had to, we worked hard and we were rewarded for it. We should not read too much into this win but for us it was a small emotional release."
Germany have already qualified for Euro 2024 as the host nation.
Mind over matter
Tottenham forward Richarlison has revealed that he will seek psychological help as he aims to move on from the personal issues that have affected him over the last few months.
The 26-year-old was visibly upset after being substituted during Friday's 5-1 win over Bolivia but is confident that he can soon recover his best form.
He said: "I went through a turbulent time in the last five months off the field. Now things are right at home.
"People who only had an eye on my money walked away from me. Now things will start to flow, I'm sure I'll get a good run at Tottenham and make things happen again.
"I'm going to go back to England and will seek psychological help, from a psychologist, to work on my mind. That's it, come back stronger.
"It's about getting a good streak at Tottenham. This week I'm going to sit down and talk to them."
Verratti on the move
Marco Verratti has completed his move to Qatari side Al-Arabi SC from Paris Saint-Germain.
The midfielder scored 11 goals in 416 appearances for the Ligue 1 champions after signing from Pescara in 2012.
Upon leaving the club, Verratti said: "I’ve been very proud to play for Paris Saint-Germain for over a decade, to rub shoulders with so many great players and to win 30 trophies.
"Paris, the club and its fans will always hold a very special place in my heart. I’ll forever be a Parisian."
Enzo on the rise
Enzo Fernandez hit the heights in more ways than one last night as he scored Argentina's opener in extreme Bolivian altitude.
The world champions ran out 3-0 winners in the 2026 World Cup qualifier, with Nicolas Tagliafico and Nicolas Gonzalez adding gloss to the scoreline.
And Fernandez explained afterwards how difficult the match had been, saying: "I'm a bit choked, the altitude feels a lot, but I adapted well.
"The game is like that. It's hard to catch my breath, but I felt very good."
Fernandez is in line to feature for Chelsea at Bournemouth on Sunday.
Above par
Gareth Bale believes that Tottenham's attacking style under Ange Postecoglou is how the club's supporters want them to play.
Bale scored 72 goals in 237 appearances across two spells at Spurs and is enthused by how they have begun the new Premier League season.
Speaking during a Celebrity Pro-Am golf event at Wentworth, Bale said: "It's great to see, they've got the style back.
"I think that's something the club was looking for as well, seeing how he [Postecoglou] played at Celtic. There's still more to come from the team. Hopefully they can put themselves up there and give themselves a chance."
Satisfied Spalletti
New Italy manager Luciano Spalletti believes that Italy's key Euro 2024 qualification victory over Ukraine on Tuesday should relieve the pressure on his side.
Davide Frattesi's first-half brace was enough to get a 2-1 win for the Azzurri that helped them seize control of their destiny in Group C.
After seeing out a nervy end to the game, Spalletti said: "There was a lot of pressure in recent weeks and I had to understand many things in a short time.
"We have to be happy because it's not always possible to not even concede a single cross to our opponent."
Italy will play Malta and England in October.
Eager for more
Lesley Ugochukwu is determined to repay the faith Chelsea have invested in him after a summer switch from Rennes.
The midfielder has already made three appearances for the Blues this season and is keen on more.
He told the club's website: "I was attracted by what they wanted to do and what they saw in me.
"They say I can become a great midfielder if I put in the work and everything goes well. It's up to me to prove that I can have my place in the long term.
"I wanted to take this step. I feel ready to fight for earn my place."
Massive deal

The league's logo will appear on the home and away kit of the North Wales Coast West Division One side.
