Stephanie Frappart will become the first female referee to officiate a men's international match at Wembley when England face Australia on Friday.

The Frenchwoman, 39, has been a trailblazer for female officials, taking charge of Ligue 1 fixtures in her homeland while also being the first woman to officiate in the Champions League and Uefa Super Cup.

She also broke new ground last winter when taking charge of a men's World Cup game in Qatar as Germany beat Costa Rica 4-2.

FA head of refereeing operations Peter Elsworth said: "Stephanie is an outstanding referee.

"We are delighted she and her team will take charge of our upcoming fixture against Australia in front of a sold-out crowd at Wembley Stadium and we're looking forward to welcoming them to the home of English football."

Jose's not Roming

Jose Mourinho has made clear his intention to stay put at Roma.

The legendary tactician, 60, has been linked with several roles in recent weeks — including a lucrative Saudi Arabia switch — amid rumours he was ready to leave the Italian capital.

One win from Roma's opening six Serie A matches only intensified those whispers but Mourinho poured cold water on the reports after a 4-1 win at Cagliari.

The Portuguese boss said: "I have a contract until June 30. I know what I want and I want to give everything to Roma. 

"There is no problem and I'm happy today because Roma won."

The former Chelsea manager had another ex-Blue to thank for yesterday's success as Romelu Lukaku's brace made it four goals in three outings for the Belgian.

Mourinho did however confess he was "not optimistic" over an injury that saw Argentine forward Paolo Dybala leave the pitch in tears.

Eustace feeling Blue

Championship outfit Birmingham have surprisingly parted company with head coach John Eustace.

The Blues have enjoyed their strongest start to a league campaign for many years and currenlty sit inside the second tier's play-off spots.

Yet the club's ownership group Knighthead Capital Management LLC — alongside minority owner and NFL legend Tom Brady — cited a lack of alignment as the reason for the 43-year-old's departure.

A statement read: "It is essential that the Board of Directors and the football management are fully aligned on the importance of implementing a winning mentality and a culture of ambition across the entire football club. 

"With this in mind, Birmingham City has today parted company with Head Coach, John Eustace."

Various reports have suggested Wayne Rooney could be set to take over at St Andrew's after he departed MLS club DC United over the weekend.
