Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti claims Vinicus Junior is back to his best after he inspired their 2-1 victory at Braga on Tuesday.

The Brazilian set up goals for Rodrygo and Jude Bellingham as Los Blancos moved a step closer to guaranteeing a spot in the last 16.

And Ancelotti hailed his attacker, who has struggled for form so far this term.

He said: "I think he has returned to his best level. He has given two assists. You can say that he made the difference in today's game."

The Italian also praised Bellingham for his role in allowing Vinicius to make the difference: "I don't know how much ground he covered.

"We wanted to put a line of four in the midfield. He sacrificed a lot on the left so that Vini is fresher in attack."

Dyche's tribute

Sean Dyche has paid tribute to Everton's late chairman Bill Kenwright, who died aged 78 on Monday.

Dyche and club captain Seamus Coleman laid flowers at the statue of Dixie Down outside Goodison Park, where the team trained this morning.

And the Toffees boss said: "It's a very sad time for everyone at Everton to lose our chairman, someone who has been such an amazing servant to the club in so many ways.

"His influence in bringing me to Everton in the first place was important and I have nothing but gratitude and respect for his unwavering support of myself, the staff and our players.

"It was a pleasure to share the moment of reaching our objective last season with him – a moment I know he felt so strongly about after such an arduous season, on and off the pitch."

Gak in business

Cody Gakpo could return to Liverpool's line-up when they take on Toulouse in the Europa League on Thursday.

Jurgen Klopp confirmed the Dutchman is fit to start the match and also delivered an update on Andy Robertson's shoulder surgery.

He said: "Cody is in full training now since Sunday, which means he is available for the squad.

"Whatever we do with that we will have to see but that's good.

"Robbo had surgery and all went well, as good as it could be, so the recovery starts after he wakes up.

"We don't know how long it will take but the first step is done, that's good."

Game recognises game

Brazilian icon Ronaldinho expects a "magnificent match" when his former clubs Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan meet in the Champions League tonight.

The 2005 Ballon d'Or winner was in Paris between 2001-2003 and played in Serie A from 2008 to 2011.

And he believes the game could be decided by exciting attackers Kylian Mbappe and Rafael Leao.

He said: "They are two clubs that I carry in my heart, two teams in which I played and two places where I was very happy.

"Mbappe is a champion who can decide the match how and when he wants, exactly like Leao. 

"Players who drag people to the stadium, who invite fans to spend money to see their team live and neutrals to stay in front of the TV."

Defiant De Zerbi

Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi is calling on his side to rally themselves after they lost Solly March and Danny Welbeck to long-term injuries.

The Seagulls host Ajax at the Amex Stadium on Thursday but will do so without two of their most experienced players.

De Zerbi said: "Solly unfortunately is a very, very tough injury, a very important injury. We lose him for a long period and for Welbeck the same.

"Solly, I've not seen after the Manchester City game but we love him and we will be very close with him to support him every day. We have to accept that football is like this and injury can happen.

"I know we lose an important player for a long time but I don't want to cry because sometimes the coaches cry when they lose players. We have to move on and we have to work hard to find a solution."

Keep hunting

Enzo Maresca urged caution after Leicester continued their record-breaking Championship campaign with a 1-0 victory over Sunderland.

The Foxes have won 12 of their first 13 matches of the season — the best start made to a second-tier campaign since the league rebranded in 2004 — but their boss is not getting carried away.

He said: "We are happy but we are not thinking we are the only club in the Championship trying to get promoted. 

"In football, the normal thing is to lose more than you win. In this moment we've won 12 out of 13. It's not something normal, the players and the fans deserve to enjoy it after the relegation.

"We know that these records are important if we reach our target, these records show what the players have done and that it is not something normal but we're still in October."
