Liverpool have reportedly made a formal request to access the audio related to Saturday's VAR controversy at Tottenham.

The Reds had a Luis Diaz goal wrongly ruled out for offside in North London with the game still goalless, before Spurs went on to win 2-1.

PGMOL later admitted the error was due to miscommunication between VAR Darren England and on-field referee Simon Hooper.

Now multiple sources say the Merseyside club have requested the audio of the conversation between the two.

Liverpool issued a statement yesterday evening indicating that they would "explore the range of options available given the clear need for escalation and resolution".

The red card shown to Curtis Jones is also set to be appealed by Jurgen Klopp's side, with Diogo Jota's sending off seeing the Reds finish the game with nine men.

Will power

William Saliba believes Arsenal would have won the Premier League title last season had it not been for his injury.

The French centre-back enjoyed an impressive breakthrough campaign in 2022-23 but missed the final 11 games of the Gunners' run-in with a back injury.

That period saw Manchester City take command in the title race as the Gunners surrendered leads against Liverpool and West Ham in the closing weeks.

Saliba, 22, told Telefoot: "Last year, I had a good season.

"Unfortunately, I got injured during the year, in the final sprint. It's clear that I was a little disappointed but there you go, it's a new season with new ambitions, I hope we will do better.

"It's clear that with me, Arsenal could have been champions. But now, injuries are part of football and we are focused on this season."

Yamal commits future

Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal has signed a new three-year deal with the Blaugrana.

The 16-year-old has made an exciting breakthrough for Xavi's side after appearing in all nine of Barca's games this season, including four from the start.

He also became Spain's youngest ever goalscorer last month after coming off the bench in a 7-1 thrashing of Georgia before making his first senior start versus Cyprus.

Yamal's new deal keeps him at the club until June 2026 and reportedly has a whopping €1,000million (£866m) release clause.

Mudryk working hard

Mauricio Pochettino says Mykhailo Mudryk is making a "massive effort" to find form at Chelsea.

The Ukrainian winger has endured a tough time in West London since his £89million move from Shakhtar Donetsk last January but has started the Blues' last three games.

Ahead of facing Fulham tonight, Pochettino said: "Mischa is a very talented player of course. You need to go slowly with him. 

"His culture is very different but he is trying to be more open, to adapt, to be more involved, on and off the pitch.

"He is doing a massive effort to try to integrate himself and understand better what it means to play in the team. It's not about arriving and performing when you are young.

"It's about adapting, helping them to settle. Then the most difficult thing is to understand what they need to settle and feel comfortable and express their talent."

Reds spoil the party

Liverpool manager Matt Beard was delighted to "spoil the party" as the Reds beat Arsenal 1-0 in front of a record Women's Super League crowd at the Emirates Stadium.

Miri Taylor's 48th-minute finish earned Liverpool a superb win on the WSL's opening day of the season, with the 54,115 that watched on in North London a new record for the women's top flight.

Beard told the club's official site: "I think defensively we were outstanding. We weren't [lucky]. We defended, we put our bodies on the line, we made great saves when we needed to. 

"I was really pleased with that. I think Lawsy [Rachael Laws] was outstanding. She's had such a good pre-season and I think that showed.

"I know how hard we've worked to stop them playing, because they're a world-class team.

"It was a great atmosphere. It just goes from strength to strength. It was fantastic and I'm just glad we spoiled the party!"
