James remains

Chelsea defender Reece James has left no doubt over where his loyalties lie after hitting out at a fan on social media.

It comes after fellow Blues academy product Mason Mount reportedly agreed a deal to move to Manchester United this summer — which is expected to be confirmed in the coming days.

James, 23, replied to an account on Twitter that had posted "Reece James to Arsenal, who says no?"

But the England international was quick to shut down any gossip, swiftly responding with "I say no."

His reply was soon picked up by Chelsea's official account, who shared his response with the caption: "One of our own."

The Champions League winner also published a story on his Instagram account which read: "If you've got to persuade them to help carry the bricks, they aren't the ones to build with."

Laporta stands firm

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has admitted that the club turned down a huge offer for Frenkie de Jong last summer.

The Dutch maestro was on Manchester United's radar but nothing materialised despite the interest from Erik ten Hag.

On the saga, Laporta said: "Last year we had an offer worth €100 million for De Jong and we were right not to sell him.

"There are players that represent our style of play and are fundamental to the team. 

"We have had offers for Pedri, De Jong, [Andreas] Christensen, [Ronald] Araujo, Ansu [Fati]... but we believe they have to stay because they are the club's present and future."

Carvalho joins Leipzig 

Liverpool youngster Fabio Carvalho has joined RB Leipzig on loan for the upcoming season.

The talented midfielder made 13 Premier League appearances for the Reds last term, scoring twice.

A statement on the club website said: "The 20-year-old will spend the 2023-24 campaign with Die Roten Bullen, who finished third in the Bundesliga last term.

"Carvalho joined the Reds from Fulham last summer and scored three goals in 21 appearances in his maiden year with the club.

"He will now continue his development and gain more experience in Germany with Leipzig."

There is no buy option included in the loan deal, with Jurgen Klopp keen for the Portuguese Under-21 international to gain valuable minutes to boost his progress.

Skriniar says farewell

Inter Milan have confirmed that colossal defender Milan Skriniar is leaving the club after six seasons.

The Slovakia international was part of the squad that made it to the Champions League final last term but is set to switch to Paris Saint-Germain.

A statement on the club website read: "Having joined the Nerazzurri in the summer of 2017, Skriniar has been one of the key components of Inter's extraordinary journey, which began with a return to the Champions League in 2018 and was crowned with the conquest of five trophies over the last three seasons.

"One Scudetto, two Coppa Italia wins and two Supercoppa Italiana titles — these are the trophies won by Skriniar in the Nerazzurri shirt, for whom he collected a total of 246 appearances while scoring 11 goals over his six seasons.

"The whole Inter family send their best wishes to Skriniar."

The new Nunez

Former Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva is expecting Darwin Nunez to be even better next season.

Nunez, 24, scored nine goals and grabbed three assists in his first Premier League campaign while playing for a Reds side that underperformed compared to their usual standards.

But Leiva, who made 346 appearances for the Merseysiders, believes the Uruguayan will hit his stride in 2023-24.

The retired 36-year-old Brazilian said: "He's a goalscorer, we have no doubt about that. With his pace as well, I think it will be important to help him achieve what he wants this season.

"We know how difficult it is to come and play, the demands are really high, the way Liverpool play is different. So I think he's done well.

"Of course in the second season we are all looking forward to seeing him improve again, because he's young, he's fast and can score goals.

"Hopefully this year will be an even better season for him."

Lawrence lands in London

Chelsea have announced the signing of Ashley Lawrence from Paris Saint-Germain.

Lawrence, 28, has signed a three-year deal with the Women's Super League champions, ending a six-year stay in Paris.

The Canadian defender has been selected to represent her country at the World Cup this summer and will link up with her new team-mates when she returns.

On the move, Ashley said: "I'm really excited and grateful to be joining such a top club in England and in Europe. 

"There are a lot of emotions, excitement and I'm looking forward to meeting everyone, the rest of the players and staff and to next season."

Head coach Emma Hayes added: "Ashley has established herself as one of the best full-backs in the women's game for both club and country. 

"Her ability to get forward, her progressive play into the final third is a standout strength and she can play on both the left and right side. 

"We're really looking forward to having her with us."
