Messi won't play at 2026 World Cup
Lionel Messi will bow out of World Cup football as a champion after confirming he has no intention of playing in the 2026 tournament for Argentina.
The 35-year-old led Argentine to glory in Qatar last year, adding the famous global trophy to his glittering collection.
Messi suggested at the time that it would be his fifth and final tournament appearance and now says he will play no part in the showpiece in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Quizzed by Chinese outlet Titan Sports on whether he would prolong his World Cup career, the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner said: "I think not. This was my last World Cup.
"I'll see how things go, but not in principle, I won't go to the next World Cup."
Messi move a game-changer
Neymar believes Lionel Messi's move to Inter Miami will be a game-changer for Major League Soccer.
The Argentine World Cup winner last week announced his decision to join David Beckham's MLS outfit when his Paris Saint-Germain contract expires at the end of the month.
Brazil star Neymar said: "I'm certain that Leo is going to change the league in the United States.
"I believe the league will become a lot more popular. So everyone has to take advantage and enjoy watching him play because unfortunately nothing lasts forever."
Neymar, who has been linked with an exit from PSG himself, admitted he had mixed emotions about his close friend heading Stateside.
The 31-year-old added: "I'm sad and happy at the same time. I already knew. Messi is one of my best friends, a gift that soccer has given me.
"I had the opportunity to get to know him, to play with him and then, to build a beautiful friendship. So, I knew that he wanted to come here [Miami], and we spoke about it.
"I told him he was going to be very happy in the city, because of the style of life, the opportunity to come to live and play here in Miami."
Lewa rules out Saudi move
Robert Lewandowski says he will not be tempted by a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia as the Barcelona striker insisted he has "other priorities" ahead of money.
State-funded Saudi Pro League clubs are making a splash in the transfer market this summer, with 2022 Ballon d'Or winner Karim Benzema heading to the Middle East and N'Golo Kante expected to follow shortly.
Asked if he could be tempted by the Saudi millions, the Barca star, 34, was quick to rule out a move.
Lewandowski told Polish outlet Sport Interia: "There is no issue. So I don't think about it, because why should I think about it if there is no issue?
"Especially because my contract [with Barca] still runs for a while. I see what is happening [in Saudi Arabia] but it doesn't worry me, because I have other priorities at the moment."
Webber leaves Norwich
Norwich sporting director Stuart Webber is set to leave his role after a six-year spell at Carrow Road.
The 39-year-old was recruited in April 2017 from Huddersfield and oversaw two promotions to the Premier League during his tenure.
The Canaries were relegated after just one season on both occasions and a 13th-place finish in the Championship this term had seen Webber come in for criticism.
A club statement said: "During the upcoming period, Webber will remain in post and continue to work his notice period to ensure a thorough transition and handover."
His departure comes less than a month after he said he would not be forced out of the club by critics.
Germany salvage Ukraine draw
Kai Havertz and Joshua Kimmich struck late to help Germany salvage a dramatic 3-3 draw with Ukraine in a friendly in Bremen on Monday.
Germany, who were playing in their 1,000th international match, took the lead through Niclas Fullkrug in the sixth minute before Viktor Tsyhankov equalised 12 minutes later.
Ukraine then went in front when Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk's effort bounded in off Antonio Rudiger before Tsyhankov made it 3-1 before the break.
Havertz pulled one back seven minutes from time and Kimmich converted a penalty in stoppage time to deny Ukraine their first win against the Germans.
Kimmich said: "We started the game quite well, it felt relatively good. Then we conceded two silly goals.
"Fortunately, we were rewarded at the end with two goals."
