Midfield dynamo
Erik ten Hag believes Mason Mount can bring "dynamism" to Manchester United's midfield.
Mount, who signed for £55million from Chelsea last week, impressed in a 45-minute cameo against Leeds in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday.
And Ten Hag stated that the England international was specifically targeted to provide more energy from the middle of the pitch.
He told MUTV: "He will bring dynamism to our game and that was one of our conclusions last season.
"His vision is to play the offensive. But also he wants to be multi-functional, he wants to be complete.
"When you're playing in midfield, you have to attack, but you also have to defend. We need to be more dynamic in the midfield department.
"I'm sure he will contribute to the success of United because he is a quality player."
Reds hand No9 to Nunez
Liverpool have announced that striker Darwin Nunez will wear the No9 shirt for the 2023-24 season.
Nunez scored 15 goals and registered four assists for the Reds in his debut 2022-23 campaign and looks set to play a starring role this time around.
The 24-year-old said: "I'm really happy to wear No9. And I'm very proud too.
"Previously, other players represented this number really well and now it's my turn to wear it.
"I hope I'm able to represent it the best way just as the previous players did. Hopefully this is for many years and it brings a lot of joy."
The Uruguay hitman, who wore No27 last season, inherits the shirt from Roberto Firmino, who departed Anfield for Al-Ahli.
Liverpool greats Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler and Fernando Torres are all also previous incumbents.
Sergej to Saudi
Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal have signed midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio.
The Serbia international has signed a three-year deal with his new employers after years of being linked with a big move within Europe.
The 28-year-old will hook up with Kalidou Koulibaly and Ruben Neves in the Saudi Pro League, while Jorge Jesus will be his manager.
He scored 69 goals in 341 games in an eight-year stint with the Biancocelesti.
Satisfied Frank
Thomas Frank was happy with his side's efforts as they drew 1-1 in a friendly at Boreham Wood on Wednesday.
The Dane played different XIs in each half of the match and said: "It was good in many ways.
"It's always good to get the two 45 minutes in after we played two different teams in the two halves.
"The lads have been working very hard over the last 10 days or so and it was great to see that out here.
"Looking at the more experienced team in the first half, we saw a lot of things we've worked on, trying to add layers to the offensive play, especially trying to control it a bit more but also getting more in behind."
