Hu-ge change

Ex-Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris believes Ange Postecoglou deserves credit for reconnecting the team with supporters.

Lloris did not feature under Postecoglou before his January departure to Los Angeles FC but was still training and aware of the changes being made.

And he is sure his former team-mates will be rewarded for committing to their new style of play.

The Frenchman told The Athletic: "It was really interesting to be inside of the new Tottenham.

"The fans were not happy with the way we used to play but by bringing in Ange, we can see there is a real positive impact.

"Tottenham are now young with legs and personality. Everybody enjoys watching Tottenham and the credit belongs to Ange."

Give him time

Former Manchester United striker Andrew Cole believes Jim Ratcliffe needs time to turn the club's fortunes around.

Ratcliffe completed his 27.7% takeover of United this week, taking on responsibility for football operations.

And Cole, who scored 121 goals for the Red Devils between 1995 and 2001, has demanded patience over the Brit's vision to restore United to their former glory.

He said: "It could possibly take longer than three years, we have to be very honest.

"We've had 11 years now [since United last won the Premier League].

"We're still in the same position and if he's going to turn it around in three years he's going to have to go some. But change is good."

Do it with Gusto

Chelsea full-back Malo Gusto says boss Mauricio Pochettino is "waking up" the club's winning mentality.

The Blues have not won a trophy since the 2021 Club World Cup but have the chance to end that drought against Liverpool in Sunday's Carabao Cup final.

And Gusto claims he can tell the team are on the way up.

He said: "He [Pochettino] is here for this. He knows he has to wake up our mentality, to wake up our desire.

"We are Chelsea and a big club like Chelsea has to win everything, to keep fighting.

"He helps us a lot. He has tried to show us the desire to win, to keep fighting against every team. He talks to us a lot about tactics, technique and everything."

Not just on me

Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel insists he is not the only problem at the club after it was announced he will leave this summer.

Tuchel has overseen a sequence of three straight defeats, Bayern's worst run since 2015.

But he insists everybody should take responsibility for their poor efforts and improve between now and the end of the season.

The German said: "I don't think I am the only problem but I accept my responsibility.

"I am not satisfied with the way we play and have been unhappy for quite some time.

"Now we have a new situation but the situation has been solved and communicated. The only thing that matters now is that there is clarity."

Night to remember

Roma head coach Daniele De Rossi said his nerves were shredded after Roma's penalty shootout victory over Feyenoord in the Europa League last night.

The hosts were held to a second-leg 1-1 draw with the Dutch visitors but progressed on spot-kicks.

And De Rossi wants his side to build on their victory.

He said: "It was a very Romanista way of winning, causing people heart attacks.

"I am very happy it ended like this. I think it was deserved considering all we did throughout the match, especially the first half.

"We are not the ugly ducklings. We're starting to win too. I am pleased."

Kenilworth Road to host final

The FA Women's National League cup final will take place at Kenilworth Road on the weekend of March 23-24.

This season's competition, open to 72 teams below Women's Super League level, has already been whittled down to a final four.

Halifax will take on Hashtag United and Newcastle play Portsmouth in this weekend's semi-finals and the winners will be heading to a Premier League venue.
