Top of the Klopps
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been named Premier League Manager of the Month for January.
The Reds boss, who announced last month he will leave Anfield this summer, guided the league leaders to three wins from three outings against Newcastle, Bournemouth and Chelsea.
It is the first time the German has claimed the accolade since May 2021, with only Alex Ferguson (27), Arsene Wenger (15) and Pep Guardiola (11) having taken the honour more frequently.
His forward Diogo Jota has also been named Player of the Month for January after his impressive start to 2024.
Stepping up in star man Mohamed Salah's absence, the 27-year-old scored three goals and assisted twice in his side's three victories.
Culture change
Gary Neville is confident Dan Ashworth would be an influential figure as Manchester United sporting director should he make the move from Newcastle.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with the Magpies chief, who also has a strong track record in similar roles with Brighton and the FA.
And former right-back Neville, who worked with the 52-year-old while he was England assistant between 2012 and 2016, believes he could change the culture at Old Trafford.
He told the Stick to Football Podcast: "If Dan does come in, I do think there's a chance that the performance mentality will improve, the mentality that they do have, [it] could run through the club quite quickly.
"[With England] he started with the Under-21s, the Under-18s and with the women's team.
"You think of the success of all those teams in recent years, but that has been in the making for eight years, and it all started when Dan came in.
"I'm not saying he's responsible for what happened, but he had a big influence with the FA."
Friends reunited
Canada winger Junior Hoilett has been reunited with Neil Warnock after joining Aberdeen on a contract until the end of the season.
Hoilett, 33, previously worked with Warnock at QPR and Cardiff, winning promotion to the Premier League with the latter in 2018.
The Dons interim boss, 75, told the club website: "He's played for me three times, so I know him inside out.
"He's an international player and I think he'll benefit the squad between now and the end of the season."
The 62-cap international had been at Vancouver Whitecaps after leaving Reading at the end of last season.
Hoilett added: "I've worked with the gaffer before so it was a no brainer to come up here and join him.
"I have been keeping fit training with Reading and just waiting for the right opportunity to come along. When the gaffer phoned, it was a blessing."
Takeover at West Brom
Florida-based entrepreneur Shilen Patel has agreed to purchase a majority stake in Championship side West Brom.
The 87.8% takeover by Bilkul Football WBA — owned by Patel and his father Kiran Patel — has been approved by the EFL.
Albion, currently fifth in the second tier, have been owned by Chinese businessman Guochuan Lai since 2016.
Patel said in a statement: "I am thrilled and grateful to have reached an agreement to become the custodian of West Brom.
"The club's exceptional history, support and potential set it apart, even here in the cradle of football.
"My goal is to help the club achieve a future worthy of its history as a pioneering top-flight club that marshals the pride and passion that have defined the Albion for generations."
Another Emirates sell-out
Arsenal's game with Manchester United on Saturday could be played in front of a record-breaking Women's Super League crowd after the Emirates Stadium clash sold out.
The current WSL record attendance came in the Gunners' win over Chelsea in December, which was watched by 59,042 people.
Usually playing at 4,500-capacity Meadow Park, Arsenal are staging six of their 11 home games this season at the Emirates and have regularly attracted large crowds so far.
After selling over 60,0000 tickets, Arsenal chief executive Vinai Venkatesham said: "The next step is delivering this on a consistent basis — not just at Emirates Stadium but across the league.
"We must continue to nurture this audience and deliver sustainable growth for the whole women's game."
