Friends reunited

Rasmus Hojlund is relishing linking up with fellow Dane Christian Eriksen at Manchester United.

The latest addition to Erik ten Hag's star-studded squad has scored six goals in six appearances since making his full international debut in September 2022.

And seeing Eriksen's familiar face is helping him settle in with the Red Devils. Hojlund, 20, told manutd.com: "He called himself Agent Christian in the national team!

"It was quite funny because we spoke a little bit about the club already and he knew I was a United fan back then.

"He also helped me in the beginning here, showing me around Carrington. He's a good guy."

The Poch effect

Robert Sanchez could not be happier to be working under Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea.

The Spanish keeper, 25, is finding his feet at Cobham after completing a switch from Brighton last week to provide senior competition for Kepa Arrizabalaga.

And he is looking forward to the challenge ahead as he bids to impress new boss Poch.

Speaking to Chelsea's website, he said: "I'm really excited about working with the manager. It's an amazing opportunity to work with a coach of his level.

"I think what he brings to the club, the family atmosphere around the players, is really good and his playing style is something I think I suit really well."

It's not right but it's OK

Jose Mourinho insists he was not trying to provoke the Roma hierarchy with a picture on his Instagram account.

The Portuguese tactician, 60, and his staff could be seen embracing an invisible player in the post, which came across as a dig at the Serie A side failing to sign cover for the injured Tammy Abraham.

But Mourinho told Corriere dello Sport: "There was no provocation, that wasn't the intention. Everything is not OK but... I get angry for an hour and then I'm back to being positive about things.

"Regarding the imaginary striker, I can tell you that even if [Kylian] Mbappe arrives next week, it would still be late."

Roma begin their Serie A campaign at home to Salernitana on August 20.

Match postponed

Tonight's Champions League qualifier between AEK Athens and Dinamo Zagreb has been postponed after a fan was stabbed and killed in the Greek capital.

The Greek supporter, 29, died following brawls between rival fans outside AEK's Agia Sophia Stadium last night.

Police said eight others were injured and 98 arrests were made.

Take a knee

Premier League captains have confirmed players will once again take the knee before specific matches this season.

To demonstrate their ongoing commitment to fight racism and all forms of discrimination, teams will make the gesture before the opening and final match rounds.

They will also take the knee on dedicated No Room For Racism fixtures in October and April, as well as the Boxing Day fixtures.

A statement from the skippers said: "We are unified in our belief that any form of discrimination has no place within football, or wider society, and are committed to using our platform to help celebrate diversity and show our support in the fight against racism.

"Therefore, we will continue to show solidarity by taking the knee at significant moments during the forthcoming season.

"Diversity is central to the success of the game and we feel strongly people should respect others, regardless of their ethnicity or background."
