Five goalscorers to watch out for: Mbappe and Bellingham can continue hot streaks

Any suggestion that a summer of rampant transfer speculation might have distracted Kylian Mbappe has been silenced by the France star's haul of five goals in just 219 minutes of Ligue 1 action for Paris Saint-Germain.

That form spells trouble for Ireland's defenders when they face Les Bleus on Thursday and wing-back Festy Ebosele could face a daunting debut on Ireland's right flank against the marauding Mbappe.

The PSG forward has scored four times in France's first three Euro 2024 qualifiers, following on from his eight goals at the 2022 World Cup, including a hat-trick in the final, and he is a tempting bet to notch at least twice against Ireland.

Netherlands winger Donyell Malen has made a blistering start to the new season with Borussia Dortmund and he could transfer that form to the international stage on Thursday.

The Dutch are expected to bank another three points at home to Greece and Malen, who has scored in three of his first four club appearances, can get on the scoresheet again.

The lively wideman finished last season with a run of seven goals in nine league appearances before scoring in the Netherlands' Nations League semi-final defeat to Croatia in June.

Vaclav Cerny's prolific form for FC Twente last season earned him a move to Wolfsburg in the summer and he is averaging two shots per game for his new club in the Bundesliga.

The winger certainly has an eye for goal, finding the net four times in his last five outings for the Czech Republic, and he should get chances in Thursday's home game against Albania.

Joao Cancelo will be hoping to impress for Portugal

Joao Cancelo has had an unsettled year at club level, leaving Manchester City for a loan spell at Bayern Munich before a summer switch to Barcelona.

The dynamic wing-back should be looking forward to some playing time with Portugal and he is an eye-catching price to score at any time in Slovakia on Friday.

Cancelo needs little encouragement to get forward and fire in shots and he scored with one of his four attempts at goal against Liechtenstein in March.

Like Mbappe, Jude Bellingham has had a stunning start to the 2023-24 club season, scoring five vital goals in his first four LaLiga appearances for Real Madrid.

The brilliant 20-year-old may play a deeper role for England in Saturday's clash with Ukraine but at the odds he is well worth a bet to add to his goal tally.

Bellingham scored England's first goal of the 2022 World Cup campaign and confidence certainly will not be an issue for LaLiga's Player of the Month for August.
