Everton and Liverpool lock horns for the first time this season when they clash in the Premier League at Goodison Park on Saturday in the 12:30pm kick-off.

The Toffees will be moving to their new stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock in Vauxhall, Liverpool for the 2025-26 campaign, with their current home being demolished shortly after the conclusion of the 2023-24 season.

Everton head into this contest on the back of a much-needed 4-0 victory over Wolves on Wednesday, while the Reds were held in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Newcastle on Tyneside that same evening.

Everton are missing Timothy Iroegbunam and James Garner, with the pair pencilled in for a return just before Christmas, while Youssef Chermiti will be assessed.

Conor Bradley and Ibrahima Konate remain sidelined for Liverpool, who are also once again without goalkeeper Alisson Becker due to a thigh problem.

Konstantinos Tsimikas is not expected back until next weekend, while Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa are closing in on returns to first-team action although both are unlikely to feature here.

Alexis Mac Allister picked up his fifth booking of the season at St James' Park on Wednesday and will serve a one-match suspension.

The stats

Everton ended a run of four games without scoring with the 4-0 home victory over Wolves, although two of those were own-goals from defender Craig Dawson.

The Toffees are unbeaten in their last five home matches in all competitions, with wins over Crystal Palace and Wolves coming either side of three consecutive draws against Newcastle, Fulham and Brentford.

Liverpool's draw at Newcastle was just the third time this season that the Reds have dropped points in the league, with a 1-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest and a 2-2 draw with Arsenal the other two occasions.

The Reds boast the best away record in the division, collecting 17 points from seven matches (W5 D2).

Everton won the last meeting 2-0 at Goodison Park in April, snapping a five-game winless streak against their fierce rivals.

Prediction

There will be plenty of emotion when these two sides meet at Goodison Park in the league for the last time and it promises to be an entertaining affair that Liverpool look capable of winning.

Arne Slot is expected to tweak his starting XI from the side that drew on Tyneside, with the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Luis Diaz and Dominik Szoboszlai all pushing for an opportunity.

This strength in depth should help the Reds overcome an Everton side that will be buoyed after the midweek win over Wolves, especially having got back in the goals.

Liverpool are unbeaten in 10 away games in all competitions and they have been impressive in the final third during this period, scoring a league-high 29 goals.

However, they have struggled defensively on their travels of late and have conceded nine strikes across the last four away fixtures, suggesting that the Toffees may be able to breach the backline at least once, albeit in defeat.
