Le Tissier, Staniforth and Park back in Lionesses fold

Maya Le Tissier, Lucy Staniforth and Jess Park have been recalled for England's upcoming Women's Nations League double-header with Scotland and the Netherlands. 

All three were on standby for this summer's World Cup, with Manchester United defender Le Tissier and Aston Villa midfielder Staniforth making the journey Down Under while Manchester City starlet Park stayed at home due to injury.

However, the trio are back in the mix after boss Sarina Wiegman opted to tackle the two games with a 24-strong group.

Meanwhile, 21 of the 23 World Cup finalists have retained their spots, with Barcelona midfielder Keira Walsh and Tottenham striker Bethany England both missing through injury.

Following the squad announcement, Wiegman said: "By the time we play our first game, it will be little more than a month since the World Cup final. 

"We have had little time to reflect on all we have achieved so far this year. Instead, we will have to make sure the players are fresh enough and ready to perform straight away, if we want to go far in another competition. 

"We will play a derby match against Scotland and they have shown good development recently and are getting stronger and stronger, while we know all about the Netherlands of course and the very talented players they have."

Sunderland's Stadium of Light will host the home nations clash, meaning a homecoming is on the cards for defensive stalwart Lucy Bronze and midfielder Jordan Nobbs.

That game takes place on September 22, with Wiegman's squad set to fly out to Utrecht straight after for the clash with her native Netherlands four days later.

The Dutch should provide a stern test having reached the World Cup quarter-finals earlier this summer, only being knocked out by eventual champions Spain.

La Roja overcame Wiegman's European champions 1-0 in the Sydney showpiece as the Lionesses fell at the final hurdle of global glory.
