Edouard Mendy has become the latest Chelsea player to leave for the Saudi Pro League.

The Senegalese goalkeeper has joined Al-Ahli after falling out of favour at Stamford Bridge.

Mendy, 31, kept only one clean sheet in 10 Premier League appearances last term as Kepa Arrizabalaga usurped the Africa Cup of Nations winner's place between the sticks.

He will now follow centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly and N'Golo Kante in moving to Saudi Arabia.

In a farewell post on Instagram, Mendy said: "As I prepare to begin a new chapter in my career, it's hard to say goodbye.

"It has been an incredible three years wearing the Chelsea jersey, during which we achieved great success, including winning the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

"A special thanks goes to all my team-mates for the unforgettable journey we shared together.

"I also want to extend my deep gratitude to all the fans for their unbelievable support throughout my time at Chelsea.

"Although it's time for me to turn a new page. I sincerely wish the club continued success with the new owners and numerous titles in the years to come."

A statement from Chelsea added: "Having started his career in the lower tiers of French football — and even spending several months without a club — Mendy rose to the pinnacle of European football with Chelsea.

"A hugely likeable character on and off the pitch, he will always have a place in our history for his significant contributions to our 2021 Champions League triumph.

"For that, and for everything else, we are grateful. Good luck, Edou!"

Mendy's new employers were promoted straight back to the Pro League last season after relegation in 2021-22 and were taken over by the country's Public Investment Fund earlier this month.

Having joined the Blues in September 2020, the 29-cap international made a total of 105 appearances in England across all competitions, keeping 49 clean sheets.

As well as a memorable Champions League success, Mendy also lifted the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup during his time in West London.

Hakim Ziyech is widely expected to become the fourth Chelsea star to join the Saudi revolution, with a move to join Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr reportedly close.
