Diogo Jota has urged his Liverpool team-mates to keep their momentum going after the international break as the Reds dismantled Brentford in the Premier League.

Two goals from Mohamed Salah and a delightful effort from the 26-year-old Portuguese forward was enough to give Jurgen Klopp's side the win and keep them within touching distance of Manchester City at the summit.

It was a dominant performance from the Merseysiders and Jota sent out a rallying call as the Anfield outfit moved into second place.

He said: "It's still early doors. We need to keep winning to be able to be in that title fight towards the end. It is a long road.

"You never know. It's still early days and people are fighting for their clubs. That's what we like to see. Hopefully we are there at the end.

"The result gives us a clear victory but we know how hard it is. We are very happy with the clean sheet and the way we performed today.

"We are still adapting to each other and it's still early days in the season but we will find the best ways to play together and hopefully we can keep winning matches."

Salah's impact in front of the home crowd was key in helping Liverpool pick up their eighth league win of 2023-24 and Jota made sure to praise the Egyptian king.

He added: "He is always there, is a goal threat, creates chances and is really important for us like everyone knows.

"We are different players obviously and we try to do our best to help the team. That is what we want to keep doing.

"We had a couple of VAR decisions that delayed our first goal a bit but we finally got it and with the quality we have we could score two more."
