Rice revels in 'massive' Arsenal winner against Luton

Declan Rice hailed his dramatic stoppage-time winner to secure Arsenal a 4-3 win at Luton as a "massive" moment for their season.

The Gunners looked set to drop points in their Premier League title bid against a plucky Hatters outfit but the £105million midfielder headed home the winner in the 97th minute.

Rob Edwards' promoted side briefly went 3-2 up during a superb display at Kenilworth Road and England star Rice was full of praise for the hosts after the seven-goal thriller.

He told Prime Video: "Luton are a top side. They can't be overestimated in this league because of the quality they've got.

"They've made us pay from set-pieces tonight, us being sloppy at the back. 

"But for us to score that goal at the end and keep the momentum it's massive for us and the season."

Arsenal's 1-0 and 2-1 leads through Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus were twice wiped out by set-piece goals from Gabriel Osho and Elijah Adebayo.

Ross Barkley sent Kenilworth Road into pandemonium by putting Luton 3-2 up but Kai Havertz poked home to make it 3-3 before the stunning finale courtesy of Rice.

The victory sees Arsenal take a five-point lead at the top of the Premier League. 

But Rice knows there will be plenty more big moments needed between now and May if they are to lift the title.

The 24-year-old added: "Look, I think you've got to take every game as it comes. He [Bukayo Saka] was here last season when they were eight points clear.

"I feel like we've learnt a lot as a group, especially with me coming and understanding the team. There's so many good teams in this league this year and anything can happen.

"It's just about us, not worrying about anyone else and we need to just keep doing what the manager wants, ticking the games off and keep getting three points each time."

Manager Mikel Arteta added: "Credit to Luton. 

"Their delivery was excellent, the finishing was excellent and sometimes you have to credit the opponent. Big compliments to them, it was a tough night."
