Julen Lopetegui's West Ham made some shrewd signings but may just take time to gel

- Both teams have scored in the last 14 Premier League meetings between these two
- The last seven head-to-heads have produced 33 goals, an average on nearly five a game
- Recommended bet:
Over 3.5 goals

Despite high expectations coming into the new campaign, both Crystal Palace and West Ham got their new seasons off to the worst start with a pair of 2-1 defeats for the two teams.

Now they meet at Selhurst Park looking to put that behind them in a fixture that has traditionally produced plenty of entertainment.

Palace began their first full campaign under Oliver Glasner with a 2-1 loss at Brentford, although they were not helped by a controversial refereeing decision to disallow Eberechi Eze’s free-kick.

West Ham fell to a late defeat as they hosted Aston Villa in their opener, meaning both of these two teams will be looking to bounce back in this clash.

Team news

New signings Crysencio Summerville, Jean-Clair Todibo and Niclas Fullkrug all came off the bench in West Ham's 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa and will be pushing for a start, although Edson Alvarez remains on the sidelines.

Palace defender Joachim Andersen is close to completing a move to Fulham, while Marc Guehi continues to be linked with Newcastle.

Matheus Franca is out with an abdominal injury while Cheick Doucoure is a doubt.

The stats

Oliver Glasner's Crystal Palace won six of their last seven games last season which included a 5-2 home success over West Ham
Oliver Glasner's Crystal Palace won six of their last seven games last season which included a 5-2 home success over West Ham

Of the last 14 head-to-heads between these two in the Premier League, a score draw has been the outcome six times.

Eberechi Eze took seven shots in the opening game of the season, the most of any player in the division.

Nine of West Ham's last 15 Premier League away games featured over 3.5 goals.

Crystal Palace have won seven of their last 10 home league matches after their flourish to end last season.

Prediction

There are question marks about both West Ham and Crystal Palace’s defences at present and as a result, goals could be on the cards when the pair meet at Selhurst Park.

The Eagles are set to be without Joachim Andersen and with Marc Guehi also linked with a departure, their defence could have a makeshift feel for this clash.

They are likely to bring in defensive reinforcements but they may be too late to feature on Saturday while West Ham have also had changes in their back line.

The arrivals of Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo are positives but they will take some time to blend in.

Both teams have plenty of attacking talent that could exploit any weaknesses at the back.

Five of the last seven Premier League meetings between these two teams have gone over 3.5 goals and this one may be no different.
