November 20: India dominate Team of the Tournament

The ICC have revealed their Team of the 2023 World Cup, starring Player of the Tournament Virat Kohli.

Kohli received the individual award after Sunday's defeat to Australia and is joined by five of his team-mates in the best XI.

Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Ravi Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami are also in.

Only two Australians make it, Glenn Maxwell and Adam Zampa, while there is room for Quinton de Kock, Daryl Mitchell and Dilshan Madushanka.

November 19: Australia win the World Cup

Australia stunned an expectant home crowd to silence by beating India to lift their sixth World Cup in Ahmedabad.

The Aussies' set the victory up in the field, restricting India to 240 all out in 50 overs.

But the hosts were not going to give up easily and dismissed David Warner, Mitch Marsh and Steve Smith early to leave the chase at 47-3.

Travis Head stepped up as the hero, though, smashing 137 in a partnership of 192 with Marnus Labuschagne (58) to all-but complete a famous win — before Glenn Maxwell hit the winning runs.

Australia will play India in the Cricket World Cup final after defeating South Africa in a low-scoring thriller.

The Aussie bowling attack dismantled the Proteas' top order, leaving Temba Bavuma's side 24-4 and staring down the barrel of a humiliating semi-final loss.

But a superb century from No6 David Miller helped South Africa post 212 and Australia only achieved their target with three wickets to spare.

Travis Head's 62 from just 48 deliveries set his side on the way to victory, with bowling all-rounders Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc providing the finishing touches with the bat.

November 15: India in the final

India reached the final of the Cricket World Cup after beating New Zealand by 70 runs in Mumbai.

Virat Kohli's record-breaking 50th one-day international century helped the hosts set a mammoth total of 397-4, with Shreyas Iyer also notching a superb hundred.

New Zealand battled fiercely to chase down the runs but ultimately fell short as Daryl Mitchell's excellent 134 off 119 deliveries came in a losing cause.

Mohammed Shami once again starred with the ball, picking up 7-57 from his 10 overs — and becoming the quickest bowler to reach 50 World Cup wickets, achieving the feat in just 17 innings.

November 15: Babar resigns

Babar Azam has resigned as Pakistan's captain in all three formats after failure to qualify for the Cricket World Cup semi-finals.

The 29-year-old struggled for form at the tournament, despite being the No2 ranked one-day international batter by the ICC.

He wrote in a statement: "Today, I am stepping down as the captain of Pakistan in all formats.

"It's a difficult decision but I feel it is a right time for this call. I will continue to represent Pakistan as a player in all three formats.

"I am here to support the new captain and the team with my experience and dedication."
