Nikita Parris scored a hat-trick as Manchester United thrashed Everton 7-0 in the Women's League Cup.

Parris scored the opening goal of the game with a bullet header from close range and Rachel Williams added to the scoresheet before half-time.

Captain for the evening Hayley Ladd added another after the restart before Parris secured her treble with a quickfire double, with Geyse and Leah Galton also getting in on the act.

This opening result means the Red Devils are already second in Group B, three points behind Manchester City, who have played one more game.

Elsewhere, Arsenal secured a routine 3-1 win against Bristol City to get their League Cup campaign up and running.

Beth Mead set up Frida Maanum for the opener just before the 30-minute mark.

Lotte Wubben-Moy headed home shortly after as the Gunners went into the break with a two-goal advantage.

Cecilie Struck did get the visitors back in the game with twenty minutes remaining but Stina Blackstenius calmed all nerves with a strike in additional time.

The Gunners are two points behind leaders and next opponents Southampton in Group D with a game in hand.
