Club Brugge to win

Club Brugge and Fiorentina delivered plenty of drama and five goals in the first leg of their Europa Conference League semi-final, and more can be expected in the return match.

The Serie A side lead 3-2 after an added-time winner, but the Belgians played the final half-hour of the first match with 10 men and have a strong home record.

Team news

Club Brugge's Raphael Onyedika is suspended after being sent off for receiving two yellow cards in quick succession in the first leg. Hugo Vetlesen may replace him in midfield. Simon Mignolet is on standby to come in for goalkeeper Nordin Jackers again if he has not recovered from a strain. Left-back Bjorn Meijer is out with a knee injury and may be replaced by Maxim De Cuyper.

Fiorentina's Riccardo Sottil, who scored the first goal in Florence, is out with a broken collarbone and Gaetano Castrovilli is not in the squad for this competition, so Jonathan Ikone or Christian Kouame could come into the team.

The stats

The first-leg loss was Brugge's only defeat in their last nine matches, while Brugge have won their last three home games without conceding a goal.

There have been over 2.5 goals in Brugge's last five matches, while both teams have scored in Fiorentina's previous four games.

Fiorentina have won only four of their last 13 matches in 90 minutes, while a lively game is expected on Wednesday as the pair combined for 13 shots on target in the first leg.

Prediction

Club Brugge suffered late heartbreak in Florence when they conceded in added time but they are capable of winning their home leg to at least force extra-time.

The Belgian outfit turned around their tie against Molde earlier in this competition with a convincing 3-0 win at the Jan Breydel Stadium after losing the first leg 2-1 away, and they will be looking to repeat the trick.

Brugge have lost only one of their 15 home league games this season and are the top home scorers in Belgium with 35 goals scored in those matches.

Fiorentina play in a stronger domestic league, but they have not been performing as they would have liked in recent weeks and their only league wins since February have come against Sassuolo and Salernitana, the bottom two teams in Serie A.

They have won only five of their 17 away league games this season and have been beaten by Atalanta in the Coppa Italia and Verona in Serie A in their last two away games.

With three or more goals scored in the last four games played by both teams, another entertaining encounter is likely, and the home side have a decent chance of coming out on top.
