Nicolas Jackson believes he is going to do "amazing things" at Chelsea after joining from Villarreal on an eight-year deal.

The Senegal international, 22, becomes the second major recruit of the Mauricio Pochettino era following the arrival of fellow attacker Christopher Nkunku.

Jackson spent two years in the Yellow Submarine's first team, scoring 12 goals in 26 LaLiga appearances last season.

He was close to sealing a switch to the Premier League in January, when a deal was agreed with Bournemouth, but that transfer fell through due to a failed medical.

In a brief introduction video tweeted by Chelsea, the striker said: "People call me Jackson or some call me Nics. I feel I'm gonna do amazing things here.

"Hope to see you soon at Stamford Bridge."

Co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley added: "We are excited to welcome Nicolas to Chelsea.

"He is a young player with big potential, as he showcased for Villarreal last season.

"We believe he is ready for this next step in his career and look forward to him working with Mauricio and his Chelsea team-mates."

Stamford Bridge continues to be the centre of much of this summer's transfer activity with the arrivals of Nkunku and Jackson overshadowed by a mass exodus.

Kalidou Koulibaly was sold to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal last weekend, while N'Golo Kante will join fellow Saudi outfit Al-Ittihad when his contract expires and Edouard Mendy is also likely to head for the Middle East.

Mateo Kovacic has joined Manchester City, Arsenal have snapped up Kai Havertz and Ruben Loftus-Cheek completed his switch to AC Milan earlier this evening.
