Carlo Ancelotti highlighted the performance of summer signing Jude Bellingham as Real Madrid eased to a 2-0 pre-season friendly victory over Manchester United.

England ace Bellingham's lobbed finish opened the scoring in Houston after six minutes before Spanish loanee Joselu wrapped up the win moments before the end of the contest with a spectacular bicycle kick.

Having adopted a new 4-4-2 formation, with Bellingham given licence to roam at the head of a midfield diamond, Ancelotti is pleased with his team's progress.

He said: "Bellingham's goal demonstrates his quality. He arrives from the second line at the right time.

"The new system is working well. Vinicius Junior likes to play a bit more centrally and sometimes he has to play out wide because he's also very strong.

"His positioning and Rodrygo's positioning creates a lot of threat because they're very quick and we can play more direct like that. The system also enables Bellingham to show his quality."

Ancelotti's men stay in Texas for Saturday's El Clasico clash with Barcelona.

Onana debut

Andre Onana made his first United appearance since signing from Inter Milan and boss Erik ten Hag was happy with his new goalkeeper's debut.

The Dutch boss said: "When you play against Real Madrid, you will concede chances because they are a very good team with very good players.

"But, overall, we did quite well and in the moment we conceded chances, he was there.

"I think everyone has seen, he has made a good debut."

Ten Hag's men have lost consecutive matches with the Los Blancos defeat following a 3-1 setback against Wrexham on Tuesday.

But the Red Devils manager is not concerned by the end result, preferring to focus on the development of his squad during their time in America.

He added: "You play on a high level, high intensity. That is what you need to prepare for the league.

"The pressing can be better from the start and scoring goals. I think we need more players who are capable to be one-on-one."
