Northampton claimed their first win of the season after coming from a goal behind to beat Exeter 2-1 in League One at Sixfields on Saturday.

Tristan Crama gave City an early lead but second-half goals from summer signings Callum Morton and Cameron McGeehan gave the Cobblers all three points.

Reece Cole was narrowly wide with a first-time shot before his corner led to the opening goal after eight minutes as Crama nodded the ball in at the back post.

Jack McMillan saw an effort blocked on the line from another corner, while the visitors improved after a poor start and they were inches away from a leveller when Morton improvised cleverly to deflect Mitch Pinnock’s wayward shot towards goal, but the ball dropped just wide.

Exeter dominated at the start of the second half but Northampton levelled against the run of play after 65 minutes when Morton brought down Sam Hoskins’ pass and poked the ball through the goalkeeper’s legs.

And the home side completed the turnaround with 13 minutes to play, Pinnock’s high cross found Jon Guthrie and his fizzed ball across goal before being turned in by McGeehan for his first goal for the club.
