Burnley vs Swansea predictions: Defences can dominate for goal-shy sides
- Bunley have failed to score in their last three games
- The Clarets have conceded only two goals in their first six home league matches
- Recommended bet: Under 1.5 goals
Burnley and Swansea have built their solid starts to the Championship season on strong defensive performances and goals could be thin on the ground when they meet at Turf Moor on Sunday.
The goals have dried up for promotion-chasing Burnley, who are seeking a quick return to the Premier League after relegation last season, while Swansea have won their last two games after a six-match winless run.
Team news
Burnley will be without Manuel Benson (calf), Jordan Beyer (knee), Joe Worrall (foot), Hjalmar Ekdal (hamstring), Lyle Foster (knee) and Aaron Ramsey (knee), plus Hannes Delcroix and Nathan Redmond, but Mike Tresor is nearing a return to fitness. The Clarets could field a similar line-up to their goalless draw at West Brom.
Swansea are missing midfielder Ji-Sung Eom (knee), Andy Fisher (groin) and Jay Fulton (calf) and there may not be many changes from the side that beat Watford 1-0.
The stats
Burnley have scored only four goals in their last eight games.
Both teams have scored in only one of the Clarets' last eight matches.
Only one of Burnley's last 13 games has produced over 2.5 goals.
The home side have drawn five of their last eight games, four of them finishing 0-0.
The Clarets have kept three successive clean sheets at home.
Swansea have scored three in their last two games after going five matches without finding the back of the net.
The Swans have not conceded more than one goal in a match this season, with all six of their defeats coming by 1-0 scorelines.
Prediction
Burnley have lost only one of their last 11 games and they bounced back from that 1-0 reverse at Millwall with a solid point in their goalless draw at West Brom last time out.
But those low-scoring games were nothing new for the Clarets and backing another tight contest looks the best bet when they host Swansea on Sunday in the final game of the weekend in the Championship.
Scott Parker's side began the season by scoring a sensational nine goals in their first two games against Luton and Cardiff, but they have managed just eight in 13 matches since then and none at all in their last three outings.
Blackburn and Portsmouth are the only teams to score against the Clarets at Turf Moor in the league this season and with Swansea also regularly getting involved in tight contests, one goal might be enough to win this encounter.
The Swans have not conceded more than one goal in a match all season, but they have lost 1-0 six times in league and cup fixtures, including on recent trips north to Sheffield United and Blackburn.
There has been no more than one goal scored in six of Burnley's last eight games and this could be another match which sees the defences coming out on top.
