- Bologna are coming off their best calendar year since 1966, having won 17 league games in 2023
- Genoa have lost six of their nine away trips so far this season, including five of the last six
- Recommended bet: Bologna to win

Friday night’s Serie A clash pits together two teams who have exceeded expectations so far this season, with 12th-place Genoa making the trip to Bologna.

However, the Grifone have a tough job on their hands this weekend, as Bologna are fifth in the table and making a surprise Champions League push.

Team news

Bologna remain without Dan Ndoye, who has been ruled out until February. Outside of that, the Rossoblu are unlikely to make major changes to their high-flying side.

Genoa are set to be at full strength for this trip. However, the visitors could lose defender Radu Dragusin, who continues to be linked with a January move to the Premier League.

The stats

Only Juventus (23) have claimed more points at home than Bologna (22) in Serie A this term.

Bologna have won their last seven home matches in all competitions, while only Inter and Juve have conceded fewer goals than the Rossoblu this season.

Bologna have conceded in just three of their nine home games in the league so far.

Half of the away goals Genoa have conceded have come in the last 15 minutes, while the visitors have lost by a single goal in six of their eight league defeats this term.

Prediction

Bologna head into this game knowing a victory would move them into the top four and the hosts should expect to build on their fantastic recent record.

The Rossoblu have won their last seven at home, while they are coming off the back of a calendar year which saw them win 17 times.

For all Genoa’s success this term, the visitors have lost five of their last six trips and there are only five sides in Serie A who have claimed fewer away points to date.

Bologna have one of the best home records in Serie A this season, with 22 points from nine games. Only Juventus have a stronger record at their own ground, while the Rossoblu are right up there with Juve and Inter in terms of the strongest defences in Italy’s top flight.

Bologna may be a surprise top-four contender, but their results point to a good side who make the most of home advantage.

With Genoa struggling all season on their travels, they should fall on the road again.
