The show goes on as Foster signs one-year deal with Wrexham

Ben Foster has agreed a one-year deal to stay with Wrexham for another season.

The veteran stopper, 40, came out of retirement to sign a short-term contract with the Red Dragons last term, playing eight games as they secured promotion from the National League.

He will now remain at the Racecourse Ground for the 2023-24 campaign as the Hollywood-owned outfit embark on their first season in the English Football League for 15 years. 

Foster said: "At the end of last season, it was obvious that I enjoyed being at the club. I loved being part of the team and everything that Wrexham stands for. 

"The fans took to me so warmly, Phil Parkinson is brilliant, Steve Parkin is top class, I love Aidan Davison to bits, and the co-chairmen are out of this world.

"I'd decided before the end of last season I wanted to do it, because it feels like home. I've never joined a football club and felt at ease so quickly."

Foster wrote himself into Wrexham folklore with his last-minute penalty save in a 3-2 win over Notts County — a result which effectively sealed their promotion.

A goalkeeper with vast Premier League experience with the likes of Manchester United, West Brom and Watford, manager Phil Parkinson is pleased to have Foster around for their League Two adventure.

The 55-year-old boss said: "We're delighted that Ben has signed for the coming season.

"It's a key signing for us because we all saw the impact he had not just on the pitch but also around the training ground, and we are all looking forward to working with him again next season."
