Chilwell eyes strong finish as Chelsea bid to salvage rollercoaster season
Ben Chilwell claims every game is now a must-win for Chelsea as they bid to salvage their season.
The England left-back was on target as the Blues downed his former club Leicester 3-1 on Saturday to make it three wins on the spin in all competitions.
That upturn in form has eased the pressure on boss Graham Potter but the Londoners are still 10th in the Premier League — a whopping 11 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham.
Yet Chilwell, 26, is adamant Chelsea will not give up hope of gatecrashing the top four while also battling to go all the way in the Champions League.
He said: "We know we've still got so much work to do this season, a lot to build on.
"There are positives but there are things we can work on and that's what we are going to do. We have a week until Everton now.
"Every game now between here and the end of the season is going to have to be that same mindset of a must-win match.
"We've still got big aspirations for the season, that is where we are at."
Chilwell opened the scoring after 11 minutes at the King Power before Patson Daka levelled matters in the 39th minute.
Kai Havertz restored Chelsea's lead in first-half stoppage time and stand-in skipper Mateo Kovacic added a third after 78 minutes to seal a deserved victory for Potter's men.
And Chilwell was delighted to give the travelling support plenty to cheer about. He added: "I loved the way the fans got behind us.
"It's been a difficult season but they've stuck with us. The scenes at the end, seeing all the fans who travelled up the country to support us, thankfully we gave them three points.
"It was just a good moment at the end to celebrate with them, to show that togetherness we all have."
