Ange Postecoglou was fuming at Tottenham's performance despite beating Fulham 2-0 to go top of the Premier League table.

Heung-Min Son and James Maddison netted either side of the break to send Spurs two points clear of Manchester City and Arsenal.

But Postecoglou was not happy with the overall performance.

He told Sky Sports: "It was a good result. Fulham are a tough team to break down but we handled it quite well in the first half.

"I think with the chances we had we probably should have had a second and a third goal.

"The second half wasn't great for us, we didn't play anywhere near the levels we can, it was our worst spell of possession all season, we were really wasteful.

"Without the ball we were still excellent. We still have plenty of work to do.

"You've always got to respect the game. I've been around long enough to know if you are slightly off it, it can bring you down pretty quickly.

"We didn't stay true to the style of football we want to play and we took some liberties with the game which I wasn't happy with."

Tonight's win ensured Postecoglou broke the record for points won by a new manager after nine games with 23.

But the Australian was keen not to focus on the personal milestone.

He added: "I don't take stock, not after the second half. There is too much work to do.

"I'm pleased with the start we have had, credit to all involved. We are where we are because we deserve to be, but [there were] plenty of reminders that there is work to do."
