Ange Postecoglou was not surprised by Pedro Porro's FA Cup wonder goal against Burnley, claiming it has been coming.

The full-back's effort was the difference in Tottenham's 1-0 victory as he brilliantly fired into the top corner from distance with 12 minutes remaining to send his side into round four.

And his boss believes the signs have been there all season that the Spaniard would soon produce such heroics.

Postecoglou said: "We've been disappointed he hasn't had a couple more this year.

"He's been a bit unlucky. He's hit the post a couple of times.

"He's been outstanding all year, working really hard on his defensive game. But in attack he's got all those qualities.

"The way the game was going we were going to need something special from someone and he delivered."

Spurs did not produce their fluent best for much of the evening, struggling to break down a stubborn Burnley outfit.

But substance over style was the order of the day for Postecoglou.

He said: "We're through to the next round and that's what you've got to take out of it.

"As I said before the game, cup games are unique so to get through is the pleasing thing.

"We were a little bit wasteful but it is easier to give feedback to the players when you're in the next round than out of the cup."

The 58-year-old also played down rumours that Eric Dier is set to leave the club for Bayern Munich after he was left out of the matchday squad.

He said: "He was injured in training on Friday.

"I know nothing [about the rumours]. He didn't train yesterday so he wasn't selected. That's it."
