10 players you forgot ever played for England
England can boast some of the world's brightest talents as they head to Euro 2024 this summer but not every call-up has been successful.
The Three Lions have had plenty of forgotten faces over the years who seemingly vanished after their debuts.
We pick out 10 internationals you may not remember.
Alex McCarthy
Alex McCarthy looked ready to contend for England's No1 jersey when he was selected in 2018 and things went well on his debut against USA.
But despite keeping a clean sheet after being introduced at half-time of the 3-0 friendly win, the Southampton stopper soon slipped way behind Jordan Pickford and others in the pecking order.
Jon Flanagan
Like McCarthy, Jon Flanagan earned just one cap for his country, in a 2-2 draw with Ecuador 10 years ago.
The ex-Liverpool defender could play at left or right-back but that was not enough to earn him a recall before his retirement in 2022.
Steven Caulker
Steven Caulker is part of an elite group of players who scored on their international debut.
The former Tottenham powerhouse played and netted in England's 4-2 loss to Sweden in 2012 that saw Zlatan Ibrahimovic score an iconic overhead kick.
But after failing to return to the squad, Caulker switched his allegiance to Sierra Leone, for whom he has earned 13 caps.
Kyle Walker-Peters
Kyle Walker-Peters could still reboot his England career but he has not been part of the squad for two years.
The 26-year-old is impressing in the Championship with Southampton this season and may get another shot in future if Saints are promoted.
Ryan Mason
A career-ending head injury prevented Ryan Mason from adding to his one international cap.
The player-turned-coach emerged at Spurs before his career came to a sudden end when playing for Hull against Chelsea.
Joey Barton
Steve McClaren handed Joey Barton his one and only England cap against Spain in 2007.
The controversial midfielder only played 11 minutes and was not selected again despite spending most of his career at the top level.
Matt Jarvis
A lively winger, Matt Jarvis was a promising talent when he was called up to Fabio Capello's squad 13 years ago.
But a big-money move to West Ham in 2012 did not work out and his level dropped in the years leading up to his retirement in 2021.
David Nugent
David Nugent had a solid Premier League career but you could be forgiven for forgetting his time in an England shirt.
He did score a relatively famous goal for the Three Lions though, cheekily nudging Jermain Defoe's effort over the line for himself when it was already going in.
Dominic Solanke
You may think Dominic Solanke's name on this list must be an error.
The in-form bagsman is vying for a spot in the Euro 2024 squad but did actually debut in 2017 against Brazil while playing for Liverpool.
Patrick Bamford
Patrick Bamford scored 17 goals in the 2020-21 Premier League season for Leeds and rightfully forced his way into Southgate's squad.
But an injury-hit season later and Harry Kane's usual formidable form made it impossible for the 30-year-old to earn more than 62 minutes in an England shirt.
