England's Euro 2024 campaign kicks off in less than six months and a host of stars are scrambling to ensure they are on the plane to Germany.

We pick out six players who might need a January move to keep themselves at the forefront of Gareth Southgate's mind.

Kalvin Phillips

Kalvin Phillips has so far clung on to his Three Lions place despite his miserable spell on the Manchester City fringes but Southgate's patience is unlikely to last until the summer.

As a result, the former Leeds midfielder looks almost certain to leave the Etihad this month.

Injury-hit Newcastle currently appear to be the most likely destination for the 28-year-old, while a switch to Italy with Juventus could also be in the offing.

Aaron Ramsdale

Arsenal's goalkeeping situation has been one of the most talked-about sagas of the season and could result in Aaron Ramsdale's departure this month.

The England stopper, 25, has lost his No1 spot to David Raya this term, forcing him to settle for appearances in cup competitions and some Champions League games to impress.

Ramsdale could be tempted to find regular minutes elsewhere as he takes on the tricky task of displacing long-term first-choice Jordan Pickford for England.

Jordan Henderson

Just six months after his controversial move from Liverpool to Al-Ettifaq, Jordan Henderson is reportedly keen on a return to the Premier League.

Like Phillips, Henderson has so far kept hold of his England place but seemingly wants to bolster his chances by playing at a higher level ahead of the summer.

Newcastle — who are owned by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund — have been linked with the Premier League winner, while Ajax and Bayer Leverkusen are also named as contenders for his signature.

Jadon Sancho

Jadon Sancho currently feels a long way from having any chance of making the Euros squad but all that could change if he hits the ground running for a new club.

The winger has not featured for Manchester United since a public falling out with Erik ten Hag last September and a loan return to Borussia Dortmund looks to be edging closer.

Sancho, 23, became a Southgate favourite during his impressive first spell with BVB and may just put himself back in the conversation if he can rediscover those levels.

Eric Dier

Part of England's World Cup squad just over a year ago, Eric Dier is now struggling to get a game for Tottenham.

Ange Postecoglou has made it clear the centre-back does not suit his high-pressing style, so a rumoured switch to Bayern Munich surely attracts.

The 29-year-old has plenty of defenders in front of him in the Three Lions pecking order.

But Southgate may feel the 49-cap international is worth bringing along if he gets a run of games during the second half of the season.

Emile Smith Rowe

Without an England call-up since March 2022 and competing against several attacking stars, Emile Smith Rowe is perhaps the player in this list with the smallest chance of international action.

But given the excitement that surrounded the creative midfielder when he first broke into the Arsenal first team, he should not be ruled out just yet.

Out of favour at the Emirates, it feels as though Smith Rowe needs regular game time to continue his development.

Whether an England recall comes as a result would be a bonus.
