It has been a mixed start to the season for Gareth Ainsworth's QPR

- Swansea have lost their last four matches
- The Swans have not kept a clean sheet in eight Championship fixtures
- Recommended bet: QPR to win

QPR's roller-coaster season took a downward trajectory on Saturday with a 3-1 loss at home to Sunderland and the R's will be keen to bounce back when taking on struggling Swansea at Loftus Road.

Gareth Ainsworth's side have experienced two league wins and four defeats and are still searching for their first home points of the campaign.

However, QPR are four points better off than Swansea, who are among the division's three winless teams.

The Swans suffered a dismal 2-0 loss away to bitter rivals Cardiff on Swansea, leaving themselves firmly entrenched inside the relegation zone.

QPR must find a midfield replacement for Jack Colback, who starts a three-game ban after his red card in Saturday's defeat to Sunderland.

Jimmy Dunne (shoulder) is back in training but short of match fitness. However, Lyndon Dykes could return to the side after coming off the bench at the weekend.

Liam Walsh (calf) and Steven Benda (knee) remain unavailable for Swansea, who could make a few changes after their 2-0 loss at Cardiff.

Jamie Paterson, Liam Cullen and Josh Ginnelly are among the attacking alternatives should Swans’ manager Michael Duff decide to shuffle the pack.

The stats

QPR have registered just one victory in their last 17 Championship home fixtures.

The R’s have lost nine of their last 11 home league games, scoring just five goals in the process.

Swansea remain without a victory after six Championship matches and have not kept a clean sheet in eight league games.

There is a recent history of tight matches between the teams with each of the last seven league encounters generating fewer than three goals.

Prediction

QPR fans have grown concerned by the lack of home wins with only one Loftus Road maximum (a 1-0 success over Watford) witnessed in 2023, but their frustrations could be eased by a victory over third-bottom Swansea.

The R’s battled on bravely during Saturday's defeat at home to Sunderland despite having to play over three quarters of the game with 10 men.

Midfielder Colback's red card means he will be unavailable, but QPR can call on Scotland international striker Dykes, who is closing in on full fitness following a couple of substitute appearances for his country with another half an hour against the Black Cats.

Dykes is a decent Championship target man and his physical prowess could create extra space for team-mate Sinclair Armstrong, who is one of the most exciting young attackers in the second tier.

Armstrong's pace and power could cause plenty of problems for Swansea, who continue to concede far too many goals.

The Welsh side have shipped two goals or more in each of their last four fixtures and have struggled in attack since selling Joel Piroe to Leeds.

Michael Duff brought in four new players on deadline day, including winger Jamal Lowe, who was very successful in his first spell with the club.

But the Swans struggled in their weekend derby defeat and it may take them a while to extricate themselves from the lower reaches of the table.
