Draw

Bristol City made waves in the Championship promotion race with a surprise 1-0 home win over title contenders Leicester City on Friday and now they have a chance to mix things up in the relegation battle too when they visit Plymouth on Monday.

Argyle have been sliding deeper into trouble in recent weeks and head into this match in a precarious 20th place, just two points clear of the relegation zone.

Eight of Plymouth's 10 league wins this season have come at Home Park, but they have not won any of their last six home games.

Team news

Plymouth's Darko Gyabi is out while Julio Pleguezuelo, Ben Waine and Joe Edwards are in contention to start after substitute appearances at Norwich.

City's Sam Bell has been out of action for the last six weeks with a hamstring injury. Ross McCrorie and Mark Sykes are potential starters after coming off the bench against Leicester.

The stats

Plymouth have suffered four successive home defeats to nil and have won only one of their last 11 games in all competitions.

The Pilgrims have scored only two goals in their last five matches.

Bristol City have won just five of their 19 away Championship games this season.

The Robins have been beaten in five of their last seven games and have won only one of their last nine away matches.

Bristol City made headlines on Friday with a 1-0 win over Leicester which shook up the top of the Championship table but they had lost five of their previous six games and may not be able to back it up with an away win at struggling Plymouth.

Argyle have slumped into real trouble by losing seven of their last 10 league games but there has been no lack of effort in their recent performances. Backing the draw may offer the best value for a match in which it is difficult to trust either side to come away with a win.

The Pilgrims have not even scored in their last four home games, which is a real worry for their fans given that they have collected eight of their 10 league wins this season at Home Park.

There are excuses, though, as they have been facing a real gauntlet of home fixtures, losing to Leeds, West Brom, Ipswich and Preston, who are all top-eight teams.

The Pilgrims lost only 1-0 at home to North End and then went on the road to another play-off contender in Norwich on Friday. They took the lead after 10 minutes through Morgan Whittaker and held it for almost an hour before going down 2-1.

A lack of goals is proving to be a real problem for Plymouth head coach Ian Foster, whose team have found the net only twice in their last five outings, but City are hardly prolific at the moment either, scoring only five times in their last seven games.

Neither team looks to have the firepower to pull clear in this clash and with City having won only five of their 19 league games on the road this season, the draw is an appealing option for this fixture.
