Our focus for Monday's racing action centres on the seven-race jumps card from Ludlow

There are three meetings from the UK on Monday afternoon, one of which is a jumps card from Ludlow. The action begins at 12.30pm and runs through to 3.30pm.

The official going is described as 'Good to Soft' and here are our five horses to follow.

12.30pm - Join Racing TV Novices' Claiming Hurdle (2m)

WHITLOCK used to be in the hands of Nicky Henderson, and he looked smart when breaking his maiden at Plumpton (2m) back in May.

He has been unable to add to his account since then, however, he showed some encouraging signings last time out when finishing third over this distance at Plumpton.

This does not look the strongest of races, so it represents a great opportunity for Andy Irvine's gelding to showcase what he is capable of.

LiveScore Selection: Whitlock

1.00pm - G.C Rickards Ltd Novices' Handicap Chase (2m4f)

Colin Tizzard's runner AMBION HILL is still a maiden after 13 appearances on the track. Connections are now opting for a switch to chasing and this is where he may be at his best.

This horse finished in the frame three times over hurdles so there were some good efforts. The Getaway gelding is a big horse in frame. He should enjoy this test over fences, so expect to see a big run on his chase debut.

LiveScore Selection: Ambion Hill

1.30pm - Alfa Aggregates Ltd Mares' Handicap Hurdle (2m)

MIRANDA scored over this C&D last season. She has an excellent record over hurdles, with five wins from 11 starts. Paul Nicholls' mare has been running at a decent level on her last three outings.

The pick of those runs was a victory in a Grade Two event at Doncaster over the extended 2m trip.

The six-year-old does need to concede weight to the rest of her rivals in this assignment, but she should have too much class for the field.

LiveScore Selection: Miranda

2.00pm - Corrie Cup Handicap Chase (3m1½f)

Switch Hitter only penalised 2lb for win at Hereford last month
Switch Hitter only penalised 2lb for win at Hereford last month

It was a winning start over fences for SWITCH HITTER last month when he scored at Hereford (3m1f). The Ditcheat runner jumped well and appreciated the stamina test.

The handicapper has put Paul Nicholls' runner up 2lb in the ratings but that seems fair and gives him a good chance of following up with more success.

The danger is likely to come from Outonpatrol, but he will need to produce a career best to prevail.

LiveScore Selection: Switch Hitter

2.30pm - Alfa Aggregates Ltd Novices' Limited Handicap Chase (2m)

There are just four runners for this handicap chase, but it is one of the most interesting races on the card as a case could be made for all four of them.

WILD MAX needs to bounce back from a disappointing seasonal reappearance at Ascot (1m7½f), but he is likely to come on for that run. The four-time hurdles winner is now jumping fences and if he transfers the form he showed last season, he is the one to beat.

This is the six-year-old's second start since he was gelded back in the summer.

LiveScore Selection: Wild Max
