Eddie Howe has been backed to guide England

Gareth Southgate has been widely tipped to lead England to glory at Euro 2024 but it remains to be seen whether he will remain in charge after the tournament.

The Three Lions boss, 53, is out of contract in December and recent reports suggest he could opt to take on a Premier League job should the right opportunity present itself.

That would leave the FA looking for a replacement and new data from LiveScore suggests fans would like to see Eddie Howe take the hotseat.

Newcastle have failed to hit the same heights as last season this term but Howe remains a respected figure within Premier League circles.

And 28% of supporters who responded in our Euros Fan Report picked the Toon boss as the man they would like to take the reins.

Surprisingly, the former Bournemouth manager, 46, picked up more votes than Manchester City counterpart Pep Guardiola, who amassed 22%.

Commenting on the findings, LiveScore marketing director Ric Leask said: "With talents like Jude Bellingham in the ranks, England fans and LiveScore users are rightfully bullish about their team's prospects.

"As Euros fever takes hold, LiveScore stands as the ultimate fan companion, providing supporters with all the scores, data, stats and stories they need in the run-up to this summer's tournament and beyond."

Southgate's credentials will be put to the test once again in the upcoming Wembley friendlies with Brazil and Belgium.

The Three Lions face the Samba Boys on Saturday before welcoming the Red Devils to the national stadium three days later.

And England fans will be keen to see back-to-back victories over quality opposition to start building momentum ahead of a final pair of pre-tournament friendlies in June.

Bosnia and Herzegovina visit St James' Park on June 3 and Southgate's side return to Wembley to tackle Iceland on June 7 before heading to Germany to kick off their Euro 2024 campaign.

With group games against Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia to come, England are expected to reach the knockout phase with minimum fuss.
