Huntingdon is our focus on Friday
Huntingdon is our focus on Friday

Our Friday focus is on the jumps card at Huntingdon, where the Listed Lady Protectress Mares' Chase at 2.35pm is the feature race.

Conditions are set to be 'Good to soft-soft in places' for a seven-race card from 12.25pm until 4.10pm and we have selected five to follow on the day.

12.25pm - Pertemps Network Novices' Hurdle (1m7½f)

An interesting start to proceedings, with a novices' hurdle that could boil down to Exeter winner Judicial Law for Jonjo O'Neill and Emma Lavelle's CAPTAIN BROOMFIELD

The former won with a degree of comfort four weeks ago on what was his third outing over timber after moving over from Ireland. The form is not overly strong and his 7lb penalty has to be considered now.

Captain Broomfield, meanwhile, showed plenty of promise when a close second behind Jungle Jack at Haydock in December on his hurdles bow, more so when considering he was loose before the race.

He is a likely improver and the fact he is doubly entered in Grade 1 novices' at the Cheltenham Festival suggests connections have higher hopes.

LiveScore selection: Captain Broomfield

1.25pm - Pertemps Novices' Handicap Chase (2m½f)

ONLY MONEY won here over C&D (good) in May on his second start over fences and returns with a fine chance of adding a second Huntingdon win.

He appeared to need his comeback at Plumpton in November, a first run since that May success here and duly improved on it when second to Doukarov at Newbury in December.

More recently, he surged away to win by nine-lengths at Leicester (2m, good to soft) this month after a really patient spin around under Tom Cannon.

He has gone up 7lb in the ratings for that effort but it was a hint that there's more to come from him.

LiveScore selection: Only Money

2pm - Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle (2m4½f)

Gary Moore's Legal Rights could have his work cut out against Let's Have Another
Gary Moore's Legal Rights could have his work cut out against Let's Have Another

The hat-trick seeking Legal Rights is much-respected for in-form trainer Gary Moore, though he is up 7lb for the most recent of those wins at Hereford. He improved for that victory and could well do so again.

LET'S HAVE ANOTHER has run well in novice/maiden company at Warwick and Leicester already and should be capable of winning races in this sphere before long.

An opening mark of 107 does not look prohibitive for Olly Murphy's son of Fame And Glory.

LiveScore selection: Let's Have Another

2.35pm - Pertemps Lady Protectress Mares' Chase (Listed, 2m4f)

Vienna Court runs for Nigel Twiston-Davies on Friday
Vienna Court runs for Nigel Twiston-Davies on Friday

She is top-rated and after successive wins at Cheltenham (2m4½f, good to soft/soft) in December and on New Year's Day, it is hard to go against the in-form claims of VIENNA COURT for Nigel and Sam Twiston-Davies.

Her earlier Bangor third behind The Glancing Queen is strong form and, though she was behind Maskada that afternoon, it is Vienna Court that may come out best now.

Stuart Edmunds' 6YO did win in this grade at Leicester 16 days ago but her old foe may have her number today.

LiveScore selection: Vienna Court

3.10pm - Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle (3m1f)

A trio of last-time-out winners enter this fray, with Tip Top Cat and Bells Of Peterboro joining

GAZETTE BOURGEOISE and it is the mare that is preferred despite going up 10lb for her win at Hereford over this sort of trip at the start of the month.

The front duo were miles clear that afternoon and runner-up Art Of Diplomacy did the form a solid turn when scoring in good style at Catterick soon after.

This Ben Case-trained 6YO should have more to give.

LiveScore selection: Gazette Bourgeoise
