Lewandowski says Kane signing 'huge' for Bayern and Bundesliga
Robert Lewandowski has praised Bayern Munich's signing of Harry Kane.
England captain Kane, 30, joined the Bundesliga champions from Tottenham earlier this month on a four-year contract for an initial reported £86.4million.
Kane scored and registered an assist on his Bundesliga debut last Friday as Bayern opened their account for the 2023-24 season with an emphatic 4-0 victory at Werder Bremen.
Their new No9 is tasked with filling Lewandowski's boots at the Allianz Arena, with the 35-year-old icon currently the German side's second-top scorer of all time with 344 goals.
On Kane's move to Munich, Barcelona ace Lewandowski said: "It's a huge transfer, not only for Bayern, but for the whole Bundesliga.
"He's undoubtedly a great striker, a brilliant striker.
"The Bundesliga isn't an easy league. He'll definitely need some time to adjust but I'm sure he'll be able to perform at a high level and show his skills."
Big shoes to fill
As well as silverware, Kane will be targeting some of Lewandowski's individual achievements after opening his account in Bremen.
Polish marksman Lewandowski set the record for most goals in a single Bundesliga campaign when he bagged 41 in 2020-21, recording that huge total in just 29 appearances.
Lewandowski also holds the German top-flight record for most successive games scored in (19), while he won the division's Golden Boot award in five consecutive seasons between 2018 and 2022.
Kane's quest to match or surpass his legendary predecessor's output continues on Sunday when Bayern host Augsburg.
